Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Considering how highly lauded its predecessor is, the fact that Prince of Persia 2 seems to so be effortlessly surpassing it, after little more than six months of development time, is a minor miracle.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was critically acclaimed but commercially underperformed; this sequel has a chance to right that wrong early on with a noticeably darker and more violent adventure. The Prince is being hunted by an "immortal incarnation of Fate", who's peeved with him for mucking about with the space-time continuum in the last game and aims to make sure he won't be doing it again.

Although the Prince has a number of new acrobatic moves (including the rather Errol Flynn-esque ability to shimmy down tapestries) and time attacks (such as a new fast forward move that allows him to buzz through a cluster of enemies as nothing more than a blur of light) the most important new feature in the game is a completely new combat system.

Using the analogue controllers to full effect, it's now possible to incorporate your weapons, enemies and environment into a seemingly endless stream of combos as you leap behind and around bad guys, steal their weapons and turn a normal wall run into a lunging slash attack. If this game was only as good as the last one it'd still be amazing but the genuine improvements already seen should see the Prince take his rightful place as king of the action platformers. --David Jenkins

A very clever game. The right balance between puzzles and fighing makes it interesting and challenging.
New fighting technique is better than Sands of Time, and overall the game is better.

3 out of 5 stars Should be called 'Glitches Within'!!!   January 10, 2005

Now don't get me wrong. At the heart of Warrior Within lies the same recipe that made its predecessor Sands of Time great but what weakens this game is its annoying stop and start game play - usually due to a glitch the player can do nothing to help. For example...you have spent 35 minutes since the last savepoint traversing a room of deathdefying jumps and countless wall runs only to be stopped inches from the next save point by an invisible wall. You fall 200 feet to your death and the game kindly puts you back to where you were 35 minutes previously. I am not saying that these glitches are evident in the gamr across all formats but they certainly plague the xbox version. At the core the game is very good but please take heed of my warning - it may annoy you a little too much!!!

This game had me in from the start, it took 6 days of hard gaming to finish it, now i need to start again to get the secret ending.
agree with the above post but the start stop was good for me as it made the game very hard unlike sands of time which was a little too easy.
I must admit to using a walkthrough guide on some parts.
overall loved the game cant wait for the next one.

BTW I didnt come across any big bugs in mine, which could mean it been update.

Cheers

4 out of 5 stars Prince Of Persia NOT for People with NO Patience.!!!   January 5, 2005

Playing this game I got to admit at times it can be Hard and If your Not careful you can get totally Lost & want to smash your Joypad up..But that could be because i Haven't really Played on a Console since Ps1 first came out...I myself think the storyline Top Class, The further you go into the game the more it comes Clear. My Big Hate about the game is the camera Views at times are Awful. Jumping over walls, you end up loosing energy because the camera Not Quick enough to catch you up before the Enemys are attacking you.So overall Game play is very good & hard at times..(At this time i am stuck fighting the empress for the Second time, This time she got the power herself to Slow Time Down & So far I ain't got a Clue how to Beat her..!! Any Hints would be Grateful... Anyway I would say Buy this if you want a good Challenge, If you are type of person who gives up after 5 Minutes then this game ain't for you.!
