It's a pretty bold claim but for many Mario Party is the best multiplayer game series ever. No need for guns or complicated role-playing elements here; Mario Party is fun because it's simple. The original N64 game created an entirely new sub-genre--an unlikely combination of traditional board games and lots of ultra-simple arcade titles. The idea is that you travel around the board trying to collect stars, which must be paid for with coins, and you get coins by competing in mini-games, which occur at the end of every round. These mini-games generally don't last longer than a minute or two and many are based on old Game & Watch titles. There are over 50 mini-games in Mario Party 4, and each involves either a free-for-all, two players against two, or one against three (depending on the spaces on the board you land on at the end of your turn). These can involve anything from sky diving to basketball dunking, or car racing to hide and seek, and much more besides. Admittedly, this basic description of the gameplay might not sound too exciting, and indeed if you're playing with less than three human opponents it is pretty tedious. But play it with the full complement of non-virtual rivals and the game's infinite capacity for cheating, backstabbing and ganging up allows it to completely transcend the humdrum sum of its parts. There's nothing terribly new in this third sequel except that the graphics are much improved and the mini-games are all new, but that really misses the point: get this game out at Christmas instead of Trivial Pursuit and you'll wonder how you ever got through family gatherings without it. --David Jenkins

This is an awesome game to get if you have a brother or sister who you play games with a lot. I play it with my big brother. The only downside to it is that when you play it on your own, after a while you can get a bit bored of the whole routine: roll dice, move, wait for CPU, mini-game.Don't get that to turn that away from you though... If you do buy it, happy partying... The mario way!!!

This game is a fantastic follow up to the classic N64 series. This wonderfully crafted game is packed with loads of extras and superb mini games.It was wonderful to see mario change from drab platform to colourful board game. This game is sure to attract many new mario fans but at the same time impressing its existing fan base.The only fault I could find with this game was the length of each level in party mode. The game seemed to drag on and became boring after a while. This does not take away from the overall effect of the game though. I would advise any mario fan(or wannabe mario fans) young or old to pick up this game without delay!!!

This is a kiddy board game with characters sucha s Mario, DK etc. There are a few boards and lots of different mini games that you play in in order to win coins and therefore stars.
+ Big range of mini games
+ Mini games are easy fo kids
- older gamers will find most mini games too easy
- There is nothing to make you complete the one player game

Mario Party 4 is a cavalcade of brillantly wacky and fun mini games condensed with excellent 3 Dimensional graphics and hilarious animated characters, such as Mario, luigi, Wario, Yoshi and loads more. The structure of the game has obviously been devoted lots of time and effort as the game boards are realistic and great fun to play, there's so much to do. The best bit about this game is the mini games themselves, almost 100 fantastic mini ganmes that we keep you and your friends entertained for hours on end. You can play in teams, on your own or 3 against 1, all three of which are wonderful. Some of the best mini games include basketball, avalanche, booksquirm, GOAL and Blame it on the Crane.
My one critism with this game is that it is not half as fun when you are playing on your own - but it is a real hoot with friends and family. The party starts as soon as you buy it.

Terribly boring. Awful to play on your own, somewhat better if played with others but still very repetetive and essentially you end up not caring about your next move. A few of the mini games such as flag shoot and the bomb game are quite good fun but a lot of the others are just uninteresting. All in all, if it's just you playing then leave it well alone. If it's for more than one of you to play, perhaps hire it first before you part with your hard earned cash.
