A great game April 11, 2006 Ms. J. Brown (Manchester, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've been waiting long enough for a dance game for the Gamecube and it was pretty much worth the wait. As well as straight dance songs, there are also mini games and retro Mario features such as the jump up to the flagpole a couple of times in Story Mode. The remixes of old Mario tunes sound great, and I love the addition of all the old favourites like Koopas, Goombas, Boo, and Wario, Bowser etc. The songs can be played on Easy, Normal, Hard and Very Hard in free mode, which is great if you want to practise on easy levels or want a warm-up. The only reason I wouldn't give it 5 stars is the length of Story Mode, which is imaginative and fun to play, but far too short and can be completed in only a few hours, if that. Saying that, I've had this game for a few days now and there are still songs I haven't unlocked. Buy this game if you are a dance mat fan rather than a Mario game fan, because otherwise you'll get bored.
FUN FUN FUN February 24, 2006 Mark (Newcastle, England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is quite good. Bought it for my g/f and she loves it but I also do too. I think it is good fun and a good challenge as the level difficultly settings can really get you moving and you end up sweating, and thats just easy! But really this is good fun and I think if you have played these games before, then deffo get it, or if you havn't played these before and been tempted to try them out, then this one you must try.
Get your groove on! January 13, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
mario dance is great fun for young and old there are different levels to play it at and any child over 5 should be able to take on the easy stage. There is an excellent story mode that is a great way to get using the dance mat, the grooves of mario and luigi are so funny but nothing compared to bowsers breakdancing! I find myself watching the characters more than the dance arrows! Only two things id criticise, the story mode could have been made longer, 5 worlds isnt enough really and also it is annoying that if you start a new game you cant save your old ones to continue later, it just overwrites each time. There is two modes easy and normal for the story mode which should keep you occupied for a while and when you've done them, go to Start an Ex game and then you can play story mode on hard....which incidentally im stuck on! so no idea if when you've completed that if theres an extremely hard level! Theres also a calorie counter you can use so you can use it as a fun form of fitness too, im sure i'll have burnt off at least a few chooccie bars by the time i comlete the hard level! Recommend this to young and old(er) so buy it and shake your funky stuff!
dance! Dance! DANCE! January 1, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Thgame is one of the best party mario games ever made, for girls and boys who love to dance! Its good to see mario trying something different. It has some nice old songs from games like super mario bros 1,2 and 3, dr.mario and mario kart double dash. Its great for the entire family(practically).
Fantastic for U12's and their parents November 5, 2005 Damian (Tadworth, Surrey United Kingdom) 28 out of 29 found this review helpful
I bought this last week based on the fact that no longer do children who are still children have to compete with those who are pre-teens in trying to out perform the latest techno hit. This is Mario all the way - There are goombas to hit in their holes, boats to row across rivers and mushrooms to grow to get out of holes...All entirely Mario and all just great fun. Two seven year olds played all day to finish the 5 worlds and thereby make all the minigames and dance challenges available as individual games. There are 2 difficulty settings and they managed..just..to pass the easy setting after a few goes..difficult enough but not as they found with Dance Stage Xtreme (or something) which they got "failure" far too often and lost interest very quickly. Excellent. age appropriate platform which allows co-ordinated movements to link with on screen words and spoken commands leaving everyone laughing. Mum and Dad running for the flagpost was the highlight of this game which the whole family will enjoy - excellent..and It'll work on the Revolution too
