Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review
Stuntman, from the makers of the highly acclaimed Driver series, is a very unique game that, despite its flaws, still packs a lot of fun--especially for those who love action-style driving games such as Burnout. Stuntman puts you on the sets of several fictitious, stunt-heavy movies, such as the 007-inspired "Live for Two Tomorrows" and the Guy Ritchie-inspired "Toothless in Wapping". You're to execute detailed driving stunts by following the director's instructions over a radio and the visual cues that appear on-screen. The stunts are constructed mostly out of driving around, through and over obstacles, but there are more than a few inventive sequences that you have to time just right. If you do it wrong, or mess up the timing of the shot, you have to retake the scene.

The game can be quite a strain on one's patience, however. There's no initial "walk-through", as there would be for a real production, so it takes several passes through to even get a grasp on what you're doing. Plus there's a reloading pause between each scene which can be grating. Still, there's tremendous satisfaction from mastering a scene.

Players may be disappointed in the quality of Stuntman's graphics--it seems only a half-step above Driver 2--but they'll love the handling of the vehicles and the interactivity of the environments. Nearly everything in the game can be moved or broken. The really versatile Stunt Constructor lets you play with all kinds of fun toys, such as jumps, loops and even cannons--lay them out in an arena and then drive the course. You have to unlock all but the most basic toys and vehicles by completing scenes, but it's a great way to blow off steam. --Porter B Hall

4 out of 5 stars Dated, annoying but good fun.   January 9, 2008

I've recently got hold of a copy of this and have spent a few hours on it already.

Remembering that its a good few years since its release, its obviously dated on the graphics side but the handling of the cars is as good as most newer games. Takes a while to master each required stunt as theres no map or walkthrough prior to having a go, so you just learn by your mistakes - and yep theres a few needed to get to the end of each section.

Its stressful but addictive. It really does give you pleasure in timing things right and completing each stunt.

As its now cheap to get hold of, have a go as its good entertainment!

1 out of 5 stars A massive disappointment. One to avoid   November 20, 2007

This game promises so much but delivers almost nothing.

Good visuals and a potentially good idea are simply not enough to save this game from the dustbin. What could have been great is marred by dubious handling and ridiculously high difficulty levels. After more than thirty attempts at one particular task I got rid of my copy and felt a whole lot better for it. I play games for pleasure, not to experience the deep frustration and annoyance this game delivers.

3 out of 5 stars WITHOUT THE TIMERS, THIS GAME WOULD BE THE BEST   April 13, 2006

This game basically involves you working for a film crew preforms daring stunts and tasks in a variety of different vehicles to make films. As you gradually progress in the game, you are given better cars and more daring stunts.

If you get bored of doing the main missions you can do a variety of different mini games. There are precision tests, speed tests and stunt tests. You can also go to the stunt arena and build your own stunt area. Then you can choose a variety of different vehicles (cars, vans, buses etc) and smask them about the place. The thing that you can use are amazing. Ramps, articulaed lorrys, cars that once activated shoot out from a cage at 100mph. All of this adds up to goos gameplay.

I have one problem with this game and that is the timers. They are too strict and everything is timed apart from the stunt constructor. If the timers weren't there, the game would be MUCH better!

Graphics - 7/10
Soundtrack - 4/10
Realism - 8/10

Overall - 6/10

4 out of 5 stars Stuntman, stressful but nicely...nice   January 28, 2006
Mr. Phillip Robinson (Guildford, Surrey)
Stuntman starts off with you being a rookie driver and doing low budget films, but as the game progresses you begin to master your crafts and get drafted for bigger and better films that require harder stunts for you to pull off.

If you enjoy racing around in a flash car and showing off in your suped-up car then this game is for you. Although having said that, there are also many other vehicles for you to trash.

Whether you are terrorising Bangkok in your crazy tuk-tuk or racing around London in your bobby mobile. This game also allows you to create your own course of mental stunts.

If you push the pile of amazing parts of stuntman to the side for a minute, there are some rather bad parts to add on. I'm talking about the ammount of times you are going to fail, the game is capable of making you get up and smash whatever is closest to you in cold blood. For anybody that suffers from stress related illness buying this game would be the last thing to do if you wanted to get bettter. This game can driive a perfectly sane person absoluty crazy, but once you know you have completed the task it is all the more rewarding.

So if you enjoy smashing cars getting told off by your director and basically driving like a pocessed maniac then you'll love this game.
