Mediocre cliched tat... January 23, 2008 Dr. M. Gray (Scotland) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Two words best sum this up: utter junk. The controls are appaling, plot dull and graphics OK.The stylus movement would be fine if the hero moved faster than a snails pace (which he doesnt)and spells are shoddy and frusrating. The exploration element is near non-existent and the monster capturing is far too annoying. In short : steer clear
Enthralling and good use of the touch screen December 28, 2007 Penny (London) The game starts off a little slowly with a bit of background story about the Diva of Twilight, a terrible evil type (blah blah blah) who wants to destroy the world (oh what a surprise). Then it starts off with you playing a little boy who has to run errands for your elderly grandmother. I was ready to be bored at this point. But then you start to run around encountering monsters and using spells. The combat system really comes into its own. You learn runes that you have to write on the touch screen in order to cast spells. But the thing is, this is an ACTION rpg rather than a turn-based one. So if you're struggling to remember what spell to cast, you're going to get pummelled by monsters. There's quite a lot of tactical playing here as you need to cast a spell then run for cover while your mana recovers enough for you to cast a second spell and so on. Later on in the game, you get to control your own battalions of creatures. So you may have nearly a dozen little units on your side battling evil monsters. The spell system gets more complicated too as you learn new runes but then also have to combine them. So by combining a particular fire symbol with an earth symbol, you can generate a meteor blast. Or by combining a more powerful fire symbol with a different fire symbol, you can summon up an enormous fiery dragon. The battles are all timed and you have different tasks in each one. Sometimes you have to protect the villagers. Sometimes you have to kill a boss or just wipe out all of the monsters on screen. But as each battle is timed, these are reasonably challenging. I got wiped out about once every five or six battles - so to me that says that the level of the game is sufficiently challenging to feel fun. Not so easy that it feels like a walk in the park. But not so difficult that you don't make progress either. The graphics are fairly simple and when there are lots of creatures on screen it can all slow down a bit. But that's a minor fault given the innovative spell system. The immediacy of the spell system and having to master lots of different spells using the touch screen makes it a really compelling game. I played it so much in one stretch that I literally forgot to go to bed one evening!
Addictive and great fun April 5, 2007 Sarah (Leicester) 19 out of 19 found this review helpful
I thought this game a bit weird at first, with quite a lot of dialogue, but after playing for a while I am totally addicted. The game centers around Isaac, a boy who's parents are missing, and he is being bought up by a witch in the woods. the earth has been taken over by monsters, as an evil magician who has opened portals to another world. Isaacs father is a powerful magician who has left Isaac the wand of light, and the evil magician has stolen the wands of earth, wind, water, and fire, which Isaac must try to get back. Although the battles seem hard at first, you can actually move around the map after a bit and fight extra battles to increase your experience which is really helpful, and learning to catch different monsters really works to your advantage. Overall I'd say that this game is a brilliant RPG. highly recommended.

At first I thought this game was utter rubbish and hard but then I started to learn how to play it and yes I think the game is great and very addictive. The battles appear to be hard and you at first you want to stick your stylus straight through the screen but the secret to the first few battles is to keep healing yourself while your team of monsters fight the bad monsters and then you start to crack it. I have played this now for over 16 hours and I'm still playing, as the game progresses you start to have different options which is where you are best to save your progress under a 'new save' that way if you are not happy with what you have chosen you can go to your other 'saves'. With over 400 spells to combine it is also best to experience your new spells and moves on the lower levels then it is to try on the harder ones. Good luck

Lost Magic is a game of adventure with over a hundred different spells to cast, several magicians to defeat and monsters to kill or take onto your side. It is good for people from age 7+.
