Amazon.co.uk Review: In a nutshell: The biggest name in football management returns for a new season in which it's suddenly the underdog. Despite giving 110% though it doesn't quite walk away with the silverware this time. The lowdown: Since 1993, the Championship Manager series has been the most popular football management game in the world - for a while it was the best selling PC game of all time in the UK! Ever since original developer Sports Interactive left to work on Football Manager for Sega though it's never quite been the same. This new version is a definite improvement on last year's game though, with a brand new interface that's arguably better than any of its rivals. As well as the new Match Analysis Tool there's also a new team talk feature and the chance to give individual instructions to specific players. The accuracy of the database of players still doesn't come close to that of Sports Interactive, but it's still far from second division. Most exciting moment: The new Match Analysis Tool is probably the game's biggest new feature, with a truck load of statistics to examine at the end of every match, for not just the game itself but every individual player involved. Not all of it is always useful but it certainly does help when deciding what changes to make to your side. Since you ask: After Sports Interactive left the series, publisher Eidos set-up their own brand new development studio just to work on the Championship Manager series. Named Beautiful Game Studios, the team is based in Wimbledon with their own in-house research team for player statistics. The bottom line: Second best is still good enough.-HARRISON DENT

Excellent!! February 15, 2008 Jon (U.K.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Championship Manager 2007 is an excellent game. The buzz you get from scoring a goal is electric, and there is nothing more satisfying than buying someone in the transfer market and them putting in excellent performances for you. I also like the subbeuteo style pitch that you play on. Any criticisms. There is one - I have experienced it a few times where the play gets stuck at throw in's, as the ball keeps on coming back off the opposition player for yet ANOTHER throw-in. Apart from that, its a worthy edition to anyone's collection who enjoys playing football manager games
MAJOR BUGS! September 20, 2007 Nicholas Tiller 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The game is ok, its detailed, the game dynamics (when you're not looking at the terrible subeuto style simulation) is good and you do get a buzz when your team scores. However, there is no real tutorial and it took me 2 hours to figure out how to player search (maybe thats just me...). In addition, the matches tend to 'lock-up' regularly and players seem to get stuck at throw-ins or corners leaving you watching the clock count-down as no play can continue. Not so bad if you're winning, but kinda defeats the point. This bug occured in TWO SEPARATE copies of the game that I tried. Lame! Im sure there are better games out there!
Disapointing and difficult and the formations are awful August 4, 2007 Douglas Markovits (USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I rushed out to get it after school because it was the only new football game I did not have. When I turned it on I thought''this is going to be very good. Well I created a manager aged 6 because I did not know because I thought I was writing my profile and then I had some messages and I still thought it was good.I wondered how to do transfers and I thought I will learn about that. Finally it was time for the match and Lee Bowyer was in Defence as he was supposed to be a midfielder. The Formations were difficult and they did not tell you who injured and then you had to select a captain before thy let you start a match and I did not know how to do that. I hope you do not buy this game. I am very disapointed with eidos.Try CM 2008.I am Alexander not my daddy,Doug.
Managing a giant backwards step June 5, 2007 Owzat (Cyberspace) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I hoped this game would improve on CM 2006 but sadly it did away with all the good things and it appears made changes for the sake of it. The menus are much more hard work to navigate, buying players is way too complicated and the colour scheme is dreadful. You can see it is essentially the same game in principle, but wonder why they did things to it. - comparing players has been changed pointlessly - replay graphics are awful - menus are more complicated for no gain - transfers are more complicated, work permits is a nice touch but annoying - time moves forward in hours so it slows the game down - the game itself seems to last forever I'd say something positive but I've yet to find much positive to say, perhaps players I would have bought in CM 2006 I can buy cheaper. I haven't spent too much time on it yet, largely because CM 2006 is more playable and enjoyable. If you've got CM 2006 play that instead, if you don't have it buy it instead
