I found this game to be very good! Works on Windows Vista February 5, 2008 J. Smith (Great Britain) I found this game to be very good indeed, the tokens are interestingly voice, and they are animated as they move around the board. I think that it is great, dispite all of the previous reviews, I think you should deffiantly buy this game. A draw back may be that it can look a bit dull without a decent graphics card, since my laptop was unable to run the animations, but the PC I'm on atm works fine! A modern remake of the classic game, including european game boards, including British, it wouldn't be monopoly without it. Highly recommendable.
Never as good as the real thing, Not bad yet not great. September 3, 2007 James Petford (Stourbridge) Well i had the original pc game made by the guys who made the red alert series and that was fantastic as that version didnt make you feel cheated like this one does. The game does have some redeeming features though with some nice animations etc. The Ai makes the whole thing bitter sweet, cause i have a sneaky suspicion that the computer cheats and i end up paying taxes through the nose all the flipping while. Plus the character voices will grate after a while, So in a nutshell.... Get the board game variaint, its miles better.
Monopoly without the fun April 8, 2007 John 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Monopoly is one of my favourite games and I consider it the best board game ever made. I found this New Edition cheap for the PC,so I thought I would give it a go. I thought it would be ideal since I could play against a computer opponent. The game graphics do look OK with the board looking good and some nice animated effects when the tokens move. I do find it becomes repetitive fairly quickly because I get the feeling the computer Cheats. The computer player seems to get all of the luck and I seem to end up paying all the fines with little chance to buy property. Yes, this does happen sometimes when playing the actual board game, but not in every game played lol. Then there's the annoying repeat voices, which really grates after sometime. It's not exactly awful, but it's flawed taking the fun out of playing.
Monopoly January 5, 2007 Robert Stewart 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
So far I have only played the computer on this game. The moves move so quickly its very hard to keep track of whats going on when the computer is buying anything. I would agree with a previous review that even when looking at the full board its difficult to keep track of who owns what etc, this is one downside of the computer version of this game. I notice the variation in cards dealt with commumity chest and chance don't seem to be the same in number as in the board game. I ended up going to jail 3 times in 20 mins. The number of doubles thrown by the dice seems higher than usual as well. If you can buy this cheap is probably still worth buying though.
