I'm not too sure July 16, 2008 Steve Kay 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'm not too sure if I like this game or not. I found it very addictive and yet somehow frustrating. You start the game in debt and you have so many days to pay your loan back. Everyday interest is applied and if you leave it too long you will never pay the loan back as the interest can turn to billions. At first the fun I was having was working out who my target audiances were and what times they were. When I'd done this and selected the right types of films to show at the right times on the right days; my task was to choose the best adverts for my now captive audiance. The next piece of fun I had was working out how to pay off that loan that gets so big so fast. That is when this game started to annoy me. I found it frustrating having to start over and over again. It wasn't as simple as loading your last save as I soon realised that even in those saves I had already left it too late to pay off my loan. I didn't get my next piece of fun until I finally got my loan paid off. It felt like a HUGE acheivement after having played it over and over so many times. But that was the beginning of the end of the fun for this game, as once you have paid your loan all you have left to do is get promoted a few times to the highest level by qualifying certain requirements. I've done all this, and now the only real task I have is to make sure I'm looking at the screen to watch as my cash balance gains a new digit on the end. So that's my conundrum, I liked playing the game it was really challenging but other than getting the loan paid off there isn't really anything else left to do, and that's what I don't like about it. I think the best way to have a look at this game is to borrow it as it is worth playing, I just don't think it's worth buying (especially since once the game is installed you don't actually need the CD anymore!).
tv tycoon is great June 3, 2007 D. R. Hellewell (Scotland) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
i too had my doubts when i opened up the box however i cannot agree with the man who gave it 1 star and such an awful review it is easy to understand and works on many levels and is a game for kids and grown ups alike very quickly if you take a short time to think and analyse you can work out what adverts to go for and what shows work best in which time slot the 2nd key is to pay off the bank loan ASAP otherwise you will be unable after a few weeks of game time to make enough money to pay the interest never mind the loan itself the game's simplicity of graphics and style is one of its charms and it is sad that for some the non availability of cheats and codes is seen as a negative feature but with a little brain power and patience this is a good alternative to games that rely too much on clicking buttons/joysticks rapidly giving yourself eye strain and RSI of your thumbs and fingers this is for me one of the best games at the budget end of the price range and i'd thoroughly recommend it for anyone 7 to 9 years plus
What a load of tripe! May 28, 2007 R. Toseland (United Kingdom) 9 out of 21 found this review helpful
I was exited about playing this game, and thats what gets to me the most, when i intalled it and opened it.... BAM disapointment hit me like a tank. Turns out this game is pretty cheap, and not worth anything over 3. Its bascially one step up from a text game you would expect on a PC from 1990s. The "game" if you can indeed call it that, if in a pop up window, i suppose you can make this bigger if you wanted too but why waste your time, and the user interfece in the "game" are just windows buttons you get in any normal Pop Up. there is nothing to this cheaply made POPUP, its not even a game. The "game" is pretty hard so dont expect to get rich quick and it has no cheats to help you out. Its only a step up from Black and White in some places as the colour is terrible. The "game" wants you to basically drag and drop TV shows into slots and because you have next to no chas when you start, people end up watch your channel 24/7 with just the default news shows you have and they are not happen and inturn dont watch your network and you loose money and poof game over. Bascially people, its not a good "game" and not worth the postage and packing let alone the 8 amazon want for it.
