5 out of 5 stars Not a games console   September 8, 2008
Frederick Graham (Whitley bay, Tyne and Wear, The UK)
The PSP is really a multimedia player, supporting photos, MP3's and video on it's large screen, as well as a decent internet and games support.
The games and UMD's released for it, however, are a joke.

I think that Sony should scrap the idea of a UMD based console and re-release it as a games compatable multimedia player, with a faster processor, built in solid state memory (like the ipod has) and a touch screen & stylus.

Either way, a good quality multimedia player as it is, at a low price with (now) cheap memory.

1 out of 5 stars Connectivity? I wouldn't know.   September 4, 2008

If you are having problems connecting to the internet then forget about updating it. Although the Sony site instructs updating through the memory card the interface has no updating option other than through the intenet so if you can't make the connection you are knackered. In editing the internet connection settings it doesn't retain the previous edit and there's only so often you can enter a 28 digit WEP key to no effect on the cumbersome text input without wanting to ram the thing down Mr Sony's throat. The help and contact details on the site take you to FAQ's and no contact details. Not impressed.

4 out of 5 stars PSP 2000   August 30, 2008

The PSP 2000, commonly known as the PSP Slim and Lite is a great console. When I first go my PSP out of the box I was stunned how light it was. I have never had a PSP before but even so I was amazed by it's lightness. The Wifi was easy to set up and works brilliantly. I have not yet tried out music yet but listening to the sounds from my games,it is top notch.

I have only bought one game so far and that is Fifa 08 which is good. The problem with the PSP is that there is obviously no multiplayer option apart from online play. However the PSP makes up for this by being a handheld.I plan to buy Call of Duty 3 and some other games aswell.

Overall the PSP Slim and Lite is an excellent handheld with brilliant games, and... it's a whole lot better than the Nintendo DS!!!

this our 1st experience with a sony psp .. we are all into xbox & xbox 360 or the nintendo wii ..

but we thought we would try something a bit different .. my son's just love them .. they get to play all of the star wars games that you would get on the old black xbox , the graphics are excellent .. my son says its just like a small xbox , except its a sony psp .. he wishes he could play halo on it .. but sony don't do halo .. or halo/bungie don't do sony ..

its simply excellent , we did own a nintendo ds , but we sold that it was to boreing and my son's got bored of it pretty quick , this psp they never put it down ..

all i can say is its excellent and such fun ..

see u ..

1 out of 5 stars have sony gave up on the psp   July 31, 2008

i have owned a psp since launch and i have to say it has been the biggest waste of 180 (launch price). The games are rubbish i have even looked at future releases and see resistance retrubution as the only decent game coming out and it's out next spring.the only good game at the moment is god of war which has no replay value at all.this could easy be the best handheld on the market if sony tried a bit harder, don't waste your cash on this keep it for ps2 or ps3 games.
