A Fantasy Epic January 15, 2007 Breath of Fire, Expand your world (Dungannon, Tyrone United Kingdom) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
The Breath of Fire games have always been my favourite playstation games, as most of the more powerful rpg's are for the computer (eg. baldurs gate + neverwinter nights). Though I have yet to experience Breath of Fire I and II. Breath of Fire III is easily the most enjoyable playstation game I have ever played. Though I would prefer this game was famous because of it's original release and not because it is just another game for the psp, I will gladly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fantasy and rpg. Anyone can enjoy the flexibility of the characters. I would say the only improvement that could be made on the Breath of Fire series is more versitility. I would prefer you could make options in the game, not just wether or not you battle for the brood or give your life to the goddess and live in peace with your allies. (eg. Teepo and Rei attempt to presuade you to mug Bunyan on the Yraall Road, do you?) This would make the game much more enjoyable and bearable next time through. Nevertheless, I have won Breath of Fire III around 10 times, so, even with the lack of versitility, this is one of the best games ever. And no, if you are wondering if I have missed it out, the graphics should not be improved, for the unique quality of the graphics are excellent, and, though not advanced as games such as Final Fantasy and Timesplitters, I find the graphics very attractive for their time. Excellent work Capcom!

This is one of the most unputdownable games I have played. I always find good rpgs although not always big on visual excitment very abosrbing to play, this definately applys here. This game took me 35 or so hours to complete and to describe it as vast is an understatement. So good longevity. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I am not a massive rpg fan and the gameplay lacks the excitment of say an FPS but I do recommend it especially useful on boring family holidays :D.
Another great little RPG for the PSP February 14, 2006 Mr. M. Cartwright (UK) 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
We Europeans were honoured on Friday with two RPGs released on the same day, now when does that ever happen in the UK? With Tales of Eternia also released on Friday this is the perfect partner to another great game. More traditional in its turn based battles, Breath of Fire III provides a charming RPG experience to the PSP. From what I have played so far, the story seems intriguing enough. You play as a young dragon-boy called Ryu and you escape from being captured by a group of miners and into an adevnture with two other characters Teepo and Rei. If you have got Breath of Fire III already with its PSone release in 1998, don't bother with this at all. It's basically the same game (same graphics, same story etc etc) with a just a few extras for the PSP (Game Sharing and a Fishing mode - exciting stuff eh?) I bought this game because of the novelty of actually playing an RPG on the go and I like it! If you like you're traditional RPGs then between this and Tales of Eternia, Breath of Fire III is for you!
At Last an RPG for PSP February 10, 2006 R. Pilsbury 23 out of 25 found this review helpful
This game was good on the PS1 and is fantastic now on PSP. This game is in my opinion the best Breath of Fire in the series so it's great that it is now on the PSP.The game has a great story and memorable characters that are really cool. The graphics are very dated but that doesn't really matter because the game is so damn good. The game is very much like FF in many ways but has an edge that nothing else can create. The game will take a long time to complete 30+ hours and will keep you playing for a long time. This game is a must have for any PSP owner that likes RPGs. It is worth buying even if you have played the game before because it is such a good game and can be played again and again. Overall this is a great game and releasing it on PSP gives people who are new to the series a chance to play this classic game.
