Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.co.uk Review:
In a nutshell:
The PC and console worlds combine thanks to man's best friend and a mouse's greatest enemy. Create, pamper and train your favoured furry companions in the latest The Sims 2 expansion.

The lowdown:
After years of trying to create less complex, mini-game orientated spin-offs it seems EA are now keen to see the PC and console The Sims games converge. This new iteration is an expansion pack on the PC but a full price, stand alone game on the consoles. As the name subtly hints the main addition to the game this time round is a number of four-legged friends, plus fish and birds (although it's really cats and dogs that get most of the attention). You can also create your own personalised pet via a complex customisation tool that's just as versatile as the one for humans and on the PC version you can even send your four-legged friend to work!

Most exciting moment:
On the PC this is a perfectly welcome but very narrow expansion. However the full price console version is actually a considerable improvement on the original with an easier-to-use interface, better artificial intelligence and even reduced loading times.

Since you ask:
The next PC expansion pack is called In Season and seems to be roughly analogous to The Sims expansion On Holiday, in that it'll focus on exterior objects and locations. It's not yet clear whether there'll be a console version.

The bottom line:
Finally, The Sims is made to work on consoles!-HARRISON DENT

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing :o(   August 25, 2008

I really enjoyed playing The Sims on the pc so I was really disappointed when I got this for the DS and found that you couldn't build your own house or meet people, only clients. Once you've treated the animals and seen to the clients there's not much else to do really, apart from maybe buy things or whatever, but if you're trying to save your money to get a bigger house (the first house is really small with hardly any room for anything) then that isn't really an option. The game doesn't take long to "complete", you can train your pet which is ridiculously easy but the pet can only stay in the kennel meaning you can only have 2 patients in at a time, so once you've seen to them and they've been picked up by their owners you're just waiting for more patients.
Initially the game is alright for an hour or two but after that it's just repetitive and boring, the illnesses are the same, and it's just not very fun. Personally I wouldn't recommend it, not even to younger players as it's just too repetitive imo and sometimes trying to x-ray the pet, for example, is just frustrating.

1 out of 5 stars Quite good!   June 8, 2008

(This was written by Hannah 8 years). I have to say I agree with most of the reviews. It was very disappointing. You have to wait till you get patients. If you miss a day of treatment you have to send the patient away. It's very disappointing and should never be bought!

2 out of 5 stars OMG How Dull.......   June 8, 2008

Ok this game is DULL & Boring. It says the pets can get up to mischief and wreck the home... well they can't do anything. The pets are nothing like the pets on the pc and the psp version is not even much better. I haven't tried the wii or ps2 version yet but if it is anything like this I am certainly not buying it. I am 14 and a massive sims fan owning all of the sims games on every console and to be honest this is the worst sims game ever. Nothing can be done with the pets until they are very sick and ill. The grahics are rubbish. The faces are actually quite amusing but so not realistic, I though sims was about having realistic things from life put into games (obviously not). Trust me dont buy it it is boring, repitive and dull.

4 out of 5 stars Bit repetitive   December 26, 2007

I must admit when I first got this game I was disappointed and put it away for a few months or so. Later coming back to it I realised it wasn't as bad as I originally thought. Nothing was really well explained at how to do things, but once picked up it became very addictive. Everything is sadly repetitive but it's worth a go if you're into animals.

Good game at the start, but its just repeats and repeats and gets very boring at the start.
Does anybody know how to cure an animal with a broken leg because I tried putting bandages on it and it didn't work.
So if anyone could tell me i would appreciate it,
Thanks xxxx
