Amazon.co.uk Review In a nutshell: It's Grand Theft Auto in the Wild West as you take on every varmint in the state, battle cattle rustlers, outlaws, evil business men and figure out the conspiracy behind who your real father was. Simply put, this is an ultra violent tale of the old frontier. The lowdown: Swap the cars for horses, San Andreas for the big country and a Uzi for a good old six shooter and suddenly GTA becomes GUN. It's not quite that exact a copy though: the story missions are much more important here, with the side quests proving to be fairly short lived, and there's relatively little reward available for exploring the game world. The actual business of gun fighting and horse riding looks and feels great, with accurate, intuitive controls and surprisingly violent showdowns. Grand Theft Auto is a better game and Red Dead Revolver is a better Western, but this is still a decent effort at navigating a path between the two. Most exciting moment: Failing to take care of business in a horseback gunfight, then using your dead mount for cover! Since you ask: Developers Neversoft are the same studio behind the Tony Hawk's games - as you might have guessed from the familiar looking combo messages. The bottom line: Doesn't quite reach its full potential but a fun cowboy simulator all the same. Harrison Dent

when life robs colton of everything that matters the only thing left he can trust is his GUN July 6, 2008 Daniel Davies set in the untamed west of the late 1800's, GUN is a free-roaming action adventure game thats takes you to a world without laws - where greed, lust and murder are rampant. As colton white, a vengeful gunslinger, you must straddle the line between good and evil in a showdown against corrupt lawmen, a murderous preacher, renegade army psycopaths, merciless outlaws, and relentless warring tribes. along the way youll wage war on horseback, collect bounties and protects whores. travel through an action packed landscape of high mountain wilderness, deserts, and bustling territorial towns in an epic story of betrayal greed and revenge. colton white is an anti hero baddass trying to uncover a mystery involving his fathers death and his own life, and whos behind it all when he looses everything, and sets out on a renegade adventure to kill those in order to avenge his father. the graphics are ok on ps2 but better on xbox and 360, the controls are easy and you can do alott, cause havok in towns, hunt wilderness beasts, kill or capture bounties, work on horse delivery service, work as a ranch hand all whilst trying to upgrade your stats, yep this game has its fair share of rpg preferances, youll also get an arsenal of weapons throughout the game, and its very epic, but the map coulve been somewhat bigger and the main storyline coulve been atleast 10 missions longer but what you get is still amazing, gripping and action packed with its fair share of twists and so on, also try and find the hidden 45 gold rocks through-out the map. exellent game, amazing storyline you cant go wrong with GUN.
I love gun June 21, 2008 E. Ruggiero (UK) I do agree with most of the reveiws here, the game is a little short, but if anything thats a complement to the producers. I very rarely bother to complete a game and they have to keep me seriously interested and thats what this game did. Yes, it can be a little repetative, but so can all games and if im going to do something over and over again id rather do it in the wild west than vice city :). For the price, i suggest everyone buys it, its a good laugh, its not pretentious and if you like big guns... you'll love it.
Best Wild West For The Playstation February 27, 2008 Mr. N. C. Thompson Imagine the shooting missions of GTA set in the Wild West and you have Gun. Only whilst the game is great fun to play it is over very quickly with around 10-15 hours gameplay even with the side missions. Still, it is a good deal easier to play than Rockstar's Red Dead Revolver and overall offers a more enjoyable gaming experience.
shooting ppl rocks! August 18, 2007 Cadyshack (Eastbourne UK) this game rocks you get blow ppls faces off and stuff and the storyline is brilliant but....after the stroyline is done that is it and the towns arnt to big and theres only so much killin you can do so maybe only rent this or buy it for a small price...that be my suggestion
a game that really could have been one of the greats June 18, 2007 Morgan A. Hedges (uk) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this game when it first came out and found it really exciting at first. The game takes you through a diverse and tense storyline where you are left to your own devices in the Wild West. The game play really is spectacular, and by no means is it hard to use unlike some shoot em up games I have purchased over the years. For about 2 weeks this game was nothing but entertainment with side missions such as poker and wanted missions which add to its brilliance...HOWEVER after 2 weeks I came to a standstill. I found that there are very few missions and after you have completed the main missions there is nothing to do. I would therefore recommend hiring this game and completing it rather than buying it and realizing it only provided a few days of entertainment. Is it worth buying it...well probably but it won't be an investment in the sense that you wont feel the urge to play the game again. So because of this can only rate it 3 stars.
