2 out of 5 stars Just the demo's enough   November 7, 2008
Mr. M. L. Hanford (Hereford,England)
I'll confess I've only played the demo off the Marketplace and that severely tested my patience,It has to be one of the most repetitive games Ive ever played, almost on par with Dynasty Warriors!,Just during the relatively short demo I could see that the shadows during cut-scenes had a mind of their own,Conan's sarcastic comments were plain unfunny and gameplay wise..bash,bash,bash,block block, block,it interrupts constantly to tell you how to play and then strangely goes mute when it matters most and you're trying to figure out what a 'Blockbreaker' move is,if you're stunned it takes an age to recover and you're open to follow up attacks for an eternity, health orbs, like Devil May Cry,drift away like they're helium balloons, unlike Devil May Cry!,the camera's rubbish, and I've got the TDK game from a few years ago!!
Ultimately very repetitive in the extreme!!

5 out of 5 stars Unbelievably brilliant   July 25, 2008
Mr. Richard I. Calvert (London, England)
I love the fighting, where you have to circle around your opponent, slash him, then roll underneath and hack him from the other side, then there's the groups of soldiers that you can steam into, spinning around and knocking loads of them over at once, it really is brilliant fun. I don't like the bosses however, it's all about finding where to stand when the boss is attacking and then going over for one slash, then hiding. Extremely repetative, but most of the fighting is very cool indeed. In fact I'm worrried about becoming addicted to Conan, it gives you a chance to be a bit creative about how you destroy your opponants, using a variety of weapons or throws, or even by throwing furniture at them and then doing a decapitation move while they are stunned. I liked going over to a rack of axes and throwing them one after the other at some annoying shield carriers until their shields were destroyed, then I could use my savage might to hack through their feeble defences.
I used to like Gauntlet, and Golden Axe and Diablo 2, and this is quite similar, except scaled up and with awesome fighting.

4 out of 5 stars Conan = Amazing Game   March 28, 2008

When I First Heard Of This Game I Thought It Would Be Rubbish; I Was Wrong.
Within Two Days Of Buying It, I Had Completed It. Yes, It's A Bit Easy But Lots Of Fun.

4 out of 5 stars Cool Hack and Slash   February 4, 2008

Ok so its run hack slash, run hack slash no skill or brains required but it is so addictive and immediately enjoyable. Graphics are as good as they need to be and its just pure simple old fashioned fun.

4 out of 5 stars Conan - A Pleasant Suprise   January 18, 2008
J. Patching (Cardiff, UK)
I love all things Conan which is why I bought this game. I suspected it was going to be a turkey but I was pleasantly suprised. Don't get me wrong, this game isn't going to win any awards for innovation. It's a pretty simple affair, the gameplay mostly consisting of hacking your way through hordes of mooks, but it's just done so well. The combat system works very well and it's extremely satisfying when you manage to pull off one of the spectacularly gory finishing moves. The graphics are good (although nothing amazing) and the sound is evocative (but can get a bit repetetive).

In short, this game feels very much like an "old school" hack and slash game and probably shouldn't be as fun as it is, but there's something about it I just love.
