Amazon.co.uk Review Featuring a brand new adventure filled with numerous enhancements and innovations, this long-awaited sequel to Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow greatly improves upon the series' winning formula, making for an even more insanely addictive and wholly absorbing gaming experience.Like Pokémon Gold, which is essentially the same story with minor gameplay variations, Pokémon Silver casts players in the familiar role of a young Pokémon Trainer who is out to collect as many different kinds of Pokémon as possible. As in previous games, gameplay consists mostly of exploration (completing various quests in the process) and Pokémon battles, which employ a unique battle-system that is like a complex twist on rock-paper-scissors. But despite the similarities, it's quite apparent that Pokémon Silver is a whole new ball game from the start. The game is played out in real time, with the current time and day-of-the-week (recorded by an internal clock) having a direct impact on gameplay elements such as what Pokémon you will find in the wild, and when certain events occur and characters appear. While there are simply too many new and improved features in Pokémon Silver to list here, among the highlights are 100 new Pokémon (including two new types), new evolution processes (including breeding) and a more streamlined game interface with better-organized menus and button shortcuts. Although it's easier to progress in Pokémon Silver than the previous games, the sheer amount of fun and game time involved is daunting. You would be really hard-pressed to find a better value gamethan this. --Joe Hon

Truly phenominal December 22, 2007 D. J. Sam (UK) This game, goes down in my Gameboy history as the best game played to date. Everything in a pokemon game is executed, spectacularly. There is much more features that follow off from the previous versions. Not only are you in Johto-you can go to Kanto aswell. Even though i don't play it much, i will get back into it. Not to mention the amazing, sensationally lengthy hours of play, and the fun yet challenging difficulty, buy this game and you can't go wrong. Its a shame that i lost mine, i first got the game on the time of release (when i was 9 years old). We all know it is pokemon, they may have an infamous reputation-try this truly epic game out and get ravelled into a world of mystery, battle, quests, adventure, and lengthy hours of play.

Pokemon Silver: The best game ever! April 12, 2004 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
This game is unmustacably the best game ever. the new features envolved are stunning. There is real time, and certain only happen at certain times, like special people or special pokemon only appear on a wednesday or in the morning. it makes it hard to find all the pokemon. but well worth the time. also 100 new pokemon to collect making it harder, but still not to hard. this is a must buy game. the options of starting pokemon and new items is truely magnificent. the only tiny floor is that you have to trade to get quite a lot of the pokemon and that is does take at least a year to complete
Silver Version Master - J Holliday March 1, 2003 10 out of 13 found this review helpful
After playing the yellow, red and blue versions, the silver game is miles better. There are 100 new Pokemon, for example Totodile. There are two new types of Pokemon - dark and steel. Trade and battle with a friend with gold and crystal versions. Battle against trainers and with gym leaders to collect badges. Catch and collect all the Pokemon you can find. The game has realtime and certain Pokemon will appear at different times of day. The aim of the game is to become the best Pokemon trainer in the world by defeating the Pokemon League.

Pokemon Silver Version is a must for pokemaniacs. Even if doesn't do much like Gold and crystal version, it still has the touch pokemon fans needs. Catching pokemon is quite tough and time consuming because to have all the pokemons in the version, it will take you weeks if you don't like sitting around the whole day, for my case it took me two months to get 215. There is a real-time clock built in with the pak, so that means there is day and night, various pokemons appear only at a specific time of the day like Ledyba a bug pokemon that appears during morning. All dark type pokemons appears at 6:00 o'clock pm. Lapras can be seen every Friday at the deepest part of the union cave. There are lots of enhancements made and much more mysteries in store. I highly recommend this version since this is my favorite.
