Amazon.co.uk Preview It's probably not a complete coincidence that Star Wars: Battlefront comes out on exactly the same day as the original trilogy (or at least what's left of it after the Special Editions) DVD box set. The fact that Battlefront sounds like a lot like Battlefield (as in 1942, Vietnam etc) is also probably not entirely down to chance, since this is essentially a Star Wars-ified version of EA's online classic. As such the game features first or third person shoot-'em-up gameplay over 15 different environments from both the classic trilogy and the not-so classic trilogy. Unfortunately you can't mix and match the different eras, so each of the two sets of opposing factions have to stick to their own levels. Although the game has a much stronger single player mode than its PC based inspiration, the heart of the game is still the multiplayer mode that allows for up to 16 players online playing as more than 20 different soldier types, which sadly doesn't include Ewoks or Gungans (although the former are at least in the Endor levels as non-player characters). There are more than 30 different authentic Star Wars weapons to use (although not, as far as is known, lightsabers) and 30 different vehicles to pilot, including Scout Walkers, X-wings and speeder bikes. Despite its obvious steals from the Battlefield series Star Wars: Battlefront is shaping up to be a more than worthy title on its own, with excellent graphics, plenty of variety and, most important of all, the chance to essentially "play" Star Wars, except with virtual characters instead of action figures.--David Jenkins This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

Only lacks one thing August 28, 2008 Jammy41 (London, England) I love this game so much. If you have played the SWBF2, well this is better. It just lacks a plotline (even though Star Wars should be an amazing story) in the campaign mode. Despite the lack of a plotline, I love the gameplay and the levels. Thanks Lucas Arts. J
Not bad, however not a classic February 9, 2008 Mr. M. Irving (Sussex, England) Battlefront does exactly what it does on the tin. Straight in, gun's blazing in the various worlds of the starwars universe. Having played the Rebel battles, I found it short. All the scenery is well displayed and you can do pretty much anying whlist on the ground. Personally I'm not too bothered in playing Jedi although it would have been a nice option. As far as having a bit of a shoot around for half an hour this game suits me fine. I've yet to play online....
It is worth buying December 11, 2005 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
Star Wars Battlefront is really good. You get to play as a soldier in about every Star Wars army up to Episode 2. The vehicles are awesome, especially the Y wings and if you and a computer controlled character are in the ship at the same time the computer controlled character can control a gun that can swing all the way round and fires at enemy ships and that gives you an advantage of surviving longer in that ship. The arenas are amazing. You get to fight in arenas that you see in the films such as Geonosis, Cloud City and Kamino. The troops are really quite good. I think the jet trooper is good because on Bespin platforms if you’ve just landed and get out and fall over you can sometimes use your jetpack and fly back up to that platform. There are lots of benefits of using a jet trooper, you can fly up to places and start firing at enemies. For example on Geonosis there are 3 Techno-union ships and you can land on the rim of it and fire at enemies. This is a good way to destroy enemies and it is quite sneaky because battle droids come out of here. There are many classic vehicles and locations and the instant action heroes are practically impossible to kill.
For those who hate Jar-jar and Ewoks. July 31, 2005 Arthur Plant (Inverclyde, UK) 6 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is an absolute must for anyone who grew up with the original Star Wars trilogy and think that the new set of films are a bit naff. It is true that many of the levels in this game are set in locations and battles from the new trilogy, but these are infinitly more fun then anything the films have to offer. Encorporating many of the great cinematic battles and locations throughout the series, including Endor (play as the Empire and shoot Ewoks!) Naboo (bring death to Jar-jar and all his mates as a robot and Hoth (pilot AT-ATs! ) this is an epic and brilliantly fun game for everyone to enjoy. The single player game is a little thin but even if you prefer to play alone, setting the genuinly intelligent bots to hard will ensure that little is lost in the experience.

Star wars battlefront, the name says it all! It is the epic star wars battlefronts. The graphics are brilliant. Whatever you see you can get. Any ship there you can get it! You can fly, drive and walk on the famous battlefields fighting as 1 of 4 teams. You can help the rebellion or crush it, destroy or help the republic. It is a must buy! It's the perfect oppotunity to live the fiece battles that took place in the Star wars collection.
