Amazon.co.uk Review
In a nutshell:
The surprise hit of 2005 is back and this time it's moved on from the prequels and onto "proper" Star Wars. It may sound like one of the worst excesses of marketing hell but this is good enough to rejuvenate your love for both video games and Star Wars (and Lego)!

The lowdown:
As ridiculous as the idea sounds this is one of the few games that really can be played by all ages, from tots to grandparents - the game even adjusts its difficultly level on the fly depending how well you're doing. The graphics are absolutely hilarious as the game pokes gentle fun at all the films and characters and uses the Lego motif so you can build new structures and objects as you go. With more playable characters than ever each now has their own special move, such as Chewbacca's ability to pull the arms off Stormtroopers, and you can get in and out of vehicles whenever you want in some levels.

Most exciting moment:
The game features a large number of vehicles to drive, including landspeeders and AT-STs. You can also ride a Dewback which excretes an ominous looking brown Lego stud if you press a button...

Since you ask:
The all important two player co-op mode from the first game is still in the sequel, plus you can now design your own characters out of component Lego pieces. Darth Greedo, anyone?

The bottom line:
The Force is strong with this one.
Harrison Dent

4 out of 5 stars good fun but buggy   August 5, 2007

I was looking forward to this game as I love star wars, I it is great fun and a lot of the levels are great and well designed. However the return of the jedi levels are dire, the endor one being almost unplayable, I lost count the amount of time han fell off a log on a jump he just couldnt do, with the second characher behind unable to keep up. Also characters disappear or te camera angle changes so wildly you just cant see whats happening. That said, if you love star wars you will get a kick out of this, the bad levels aside, there are a lot of other great levels with many things to unlock. If you are not a stars wars fan or have little patience, stay away!

2 out of 5 stars Don't buy the DS version   June 9, 2007

When I played this game at first it seemed fine. The graphics are pretty good and the things you can do as a character are good too. But when I got further into the game, I started experiencing problems, such as my character often disappearing, especially in certain locations. It is not very clear what you have to do at each level to complete it. The camera views are ridiculous, sometimes leaving your character far in the distance, or losing it completely, and even getting stuck in locations with no way out. Having played the PS2 version of this game, I seriously recommend you buy a different format of the game rather than the DS.

1 out of 5 stars Glitch-laden lego maddness   January 15, 2007

I bought this game soon after receiving a DS lite for christmas. The game, on first impressions is a master peice full of action and fun, but all to soon the glitches start making their appearances. Eventually the glitches will drive even the most patient gamer to dispair and consign the game to the dusty depths of their gaming cupboards.
The game seems to have been poorly play tested. It smells of a rush-job to get the game onto the market for the christmas rush. The first movie plays well and has only three glitches (minor glitches) in the whole movie. The second movie has a few more glitches, maybe 2 or 3 per level, but nothing to stop you playing the game.
The final movie however is so glitch laden that you feel that the main enemy is not the Empire but the many glitches inherent in the game. This final movie is so flawed that you will be unable to fully complete the game, leaving an bitter taste of dissapointment after all you hard work.
It is this slow progress of few glitches in the first, to the many in the last which makes me beleive that this version is rushed. Having playtested and fixed as much as they could before the release date yet not caring if they are selling a completed product.
From the comments of other friends with this game it seems that the glitches vary from cartridge to cartridge, so if you want to take the risk you can buy one and hope that you have a reasonable copy, but I would not waste my money on this product.

4 out of 5 stars Flawed, but still masses of fun   October 3, 2006

I bought this game with a DS Lite, and I can say that I have had nothing but fun playing it. The only problem now is trying to get it off of my kids so that I can have a go.

The game does have the odd flaw here and there, but these do not detract too much from the fun to be had playing the game.

And the single card download play where you and your mates can have a battle Quake / Unreal style just adds even more fun to the game.

A little more polish would have earned it 5 stars, but nonetheless it is still a good way to kill a few spare hours during the day.

2 out of 5 stars Such a shame.   September 26, 2006

Being a big fan of my DS and Starwars I was really looking forward to this game, however once I started to play it I felt let down. Although the graphics in the game are very good the controls will leave you frustrated and feeling at odds with the movement of your charcter. In short presentaion 10/10 however the awkward and sloppy controls deminish any fun you could have had. A real shame as it looks fantastic.
