Who'd have thought that the exploits of a secret agent could be so underwhelming? Agent Under Fire isn't exactly boring--in fact, the first time you play you're sure to be impressed by the suave looks and immaculate presentation. But it soon becomes clear that this is no sophisticated vintage Bond homage; it's a fleetingly entertaining blast that just happens to feature a famous British secret agent. Which isn't to say that there aren't enjoyable elements here. There're a couple of Crazy Taxi-influenced levels that work well, as well as some mildly diverting "on-rails" shooter stages. At heart, though, like N64 masterpiece GoldenEye, this is a first-person shooter and one that suffers badly in comparison with that game. There are clever gadgets to amuse yourself with, as well as frequent set pieces in the form of "Bond moves" that will delight the casual fan. But more experienced players will find the lack of depth here distressing. The real problem, though, is the "intelligence" of the enemies. These are the dumbest bad guys you'll ever encounter in a video game. Coupled with the unerring accuracy of your auto aim, you could complete much of the game blindfolded. Consequently, it's difficult to feel much satisfaction, even upon saving the world. The developers have at least made an effort with different styles of play and a decent multiplayer mode, but Agent Under Fire is (at best) a good-ish game in a genre full of great alternatives. Be careful with your next Bond license, Mr EA--it may be your last. --Steve Colton

 The essential Bond game for PS2 February 27, 2008

This is first Electronics Arts entry in the James Bond series for the Playstation 2 and remains the most playable of the series with a variety of levels offering differing gameplay. Made by the same people who made Medal Of Honor: Frontline this has the same degree of quality and will be a sure winner for action fans.

Agent Under Fire was one of the two games I got with my PS2 on Christmas Day 2001 (that other game was Gran Turismo 3) and being a Bond fan, this was obviously the game I played the most.
Upon playing it I loved the then next-gen graphics and the style of gameplay. Part FPS, part on-rails shooting and part driving. I also loved the fact that this was an original story and for once Bond had a female lead villain (alright I know he did in TWINE but it isn't so obvious because the lead villains were more of a joined team).
I loved the fact that you could get bonus points for doing certain things in the game that only Bond would think of, making you truly feel like your the man himself.
What I wasn't so impressed about was the fact that if you got bored with the one player main story, you couldn't have any real fun on multiplayer because you couldn't select bots on the PS2 version (but later could so on the Xbox and Gamecube ones!), also although there is a fair amout of unlockable content in the game, most of it is dead easy to get wheras the others are impossbily hard to.
Also, once you've unlocked certain upgrades for your weapons (like gold pp7) the guns come out in that colour which is nice but it would've also been nice to have the oppotunity to turn them back to their original style should you want to.
Other than that it is worth adding to your collection if you're a fan. ****.

I have played every single one of the bond games, and this is the 2nd best.

this goes to all those who gave this a shoddy score....i will admit that the single player is a little lame, but still serves a few hours entertainment....
but as for the multiplayer mode, all i have to say to you people is Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! Q-CLAW! nothing is more entertaining (with timesplitters 2 as an exception) than having a 4 player mush fest with 3 mates, and then having all your characters stick to walls and exchanging rounds into each others skulls!! :D auf is the only game i know of where you can physically go ANYWHERE on every multiplayer level (even the bloomin ceiling) and have a huge gun duel!!!!! and lets not forget the classic GOLDENGUN mode!!!!! anyone who likes fps' needs to own this game purely for multiplayer value!!!!!!!!! :D
(would highly recommend changing the default controls mind you)

James Bond 007 in... Agent Under Fire is a great game which i played three years ago and decided to buy it. The level design is fantastic and the missions are very playable. There are however two things wrong with Agent Under Fire. 1. The control system is very dodgy because the controls are difficult to remember and 2. Some of the levels are either too easy or too short. But all in all, the game is a must-buy and one not to miss. Buy it now!
