So much more complete than its predecessors. March 12, 2003 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Having owned nba live 2002 and played on it right up until the release of nba 2003 i can tell you that i was amazed in the advancements of this game it is more fluent in both offense and defense shot blocking is fanatic and it can even be thrown all the way to the other end of the court if you get shaq on the case. defending such as facing up can be difficult especially when trying to contain the likes of iverson and kobe but it all adds to the challenge in this much deeper version of the ps2 nba saga, a must buy for die hard basketball game fans. a proven 5 star.
The best NBA Live game yet! December 19, 2002 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
So far the PS2 has had NBA live 2001 and 2, and until now the games were just O.K, but this one is SO much better! To begin with the freestyle skill control is excellent, by using the right analogue stick you can do a range of crossovers, so by tapping the analogue stick right your player will do a right crossover (you get the point!) Then when in defence you use it to take the ball out of the opponents hand choosing either your right or left hand, it also lets you get down low and put your arms up to stop them scoring. How the players interact with the ball and one another is amazing, for example as a player does a lay up, his head will follow the ball untill he sees it go in, and will do a slight celebration. Also in the middle of time-outs, free-throws etc. There's lots of different quick movies such as a player nicking his coaches seat and getting told off! If you do get a chance to look at the side-line you'll notice that if you're winning the coach will be standing happily, but if you're losing he'll stand there with his hands over his head and looking extremely conserned. The replays are worth watching as well, some how EA slow them down and make the graphics look better, and a variety of camera angles are used. The graphics and sounds are excellent also, the players look like the real NBA supertars and the commentators interact realistically with the game, as well as the crowd. Lastly, you can play the famouse "allstar game" choosing to be east or west! Bascally this game will appeal to not only NBA fans but all sport loving, video-game players.
