Amazon.co.uk Review
The greatest battle of the new football season is not between any real world club but between the virtual giants of FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer. Konami's game has always been the favourite but last year FIFA closed the gap to such a degree that the title race has never been closer. This year's FIFA uses a completely new game engine, for the first time built specifically for the next gen consoles. But improved graphics and animation are only the half of it, with just as much focus going on the artificial intelligence thanks to the new "35 point decision engine". What this basically means is that every player on the pitch is fully aware of those around him and constantly thinking about tactics and position when not under your control. Other changes include better modelled physics for taking a shot on goal, which take into account everything from air pressure to the angle of your foot. You're also able to create your own special moves to replicate every possible trick from real life. There are also new game modes including Be A Pro which challenges you to play the role of a single player through a whole season or career. On top of this there are revamped online leagues to play a virtual season in the Premier League, Bundesliga, French League or Mexican 1st Division against real opponents. With 620 licensed teams, 30 offline leagues and 15,000 players as well FIFA might just have made enough new signings this year to put it over the top. Harrison Dent

potato heads April 28, 2008 Filip Muzsky All the players have big ugly potato heads and don't look anything like their real-life counterparts. PES might not have their real names but they looked more like them even in PES3.
A fantastic footie game. March 2, 2008 Top tip 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game actually challenges you to think like a footballer. It can be quite frustrating just like the real thing, but with persistence you reap the rewards; playing that wonderful through ball, making the long pass, or finishing what can be nothing short of a momentous move. The graphics are spot on, the game play is smooth and works well to complement the quick pace. The online option provides links to interactive leagues that are guaranteed to keep you entertained for hours. You get a regularly updated podcast that discusses the highs and the lows of the week, a great addition to the game. In short this is a football simulation that requires effort to unlock it's potential, well worth purchasing if your willing to put the time into perfecting your skills. Once the AI no longer provides a challenge there are plenty of people online who will test your ability.
good game February 11, 2008 J. Edwards (england) this game is great as you get to create your own football club and create your own player. you can do great skills and tricks and it is a very lot of fun too.

This Is Great Game, There Are Lots Of Different Modes, Lots Of Editing Options etc. The 'Be A Pro' Mode Is Fun And A Great Addition, Especially With 2-4 Players.
A good try, but not the football sim you'd wanna play January 12, 2008 James hobson (France) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
Football is the most popular and the most televised sport on the planet, and this is the thing even people who hate sport are still interested in it,even if they don't watch it. Now EA has been pumping sports games out since the beginning of humanity and I wouldn't be surprised if they make the world cup of tiddely-winks, or penny throwing, or if they get totaly plastered a game about throwing chickens. EA's newest game for the PS2 boast's more than 15,000 international players from any country on the planet. It's really obvious to see that they've put a lot of money in to marketing they have every league from south Korea to the American D1 (maybe americans will actually discover they play soccer(football) thanks to this game!). right i've got past the teams now to the gameplay: Fifa boasts ball phisics ,or whatever sort of stupid acronym they come up with, the players have there strength's and weaknesses and the controls are pretty easy to understand and a good thing is that if you're a Pes player and you're going over to EA you can change the controls so they suit your style. Now the bad bits: now to get this out of the way I am not a huge fan of the crazy money spin known as the Barclay's Premiership I am in fact a fan of the french league (Ligue 1) mostly 'cos I suport a french team and because there is real football and money doesn't come into the equasion. Now here's the problem: I thought that i'd play as my favorite team ,Lille OSC, you might have heard of then last season in the champions league against Man U (which was obviously a draw or a win for Lille!) I played with them against them southamption (no intro there!) and they beat me 1-0! now I just sat there for five minutes so I played three more times 2 draws and a loss. It is now apparent that EA has obviously made every English team the superhuman robotic brazilian football team(even the teams that you've never heard of) So they are trying to make Hull city or Luton town fans happy so that they can say "yes i beat Lyon 4-0!!" you understand what i'm saying, They haven't taken one look at the french league, and it's quite plain to see that the designers just phoned it in a bit and prayed like mad that they could pull it of. so finally this is the main point of Fifa 08 for the ps2 it's just to get more money and a sports game to throw out of the door and see who'll buy it. I would strongly advise to get the next-gen version as the graphics look better, the gameplay is better and the players don't look like they've OD'd on sleeping drugs and have either come from madame tussaud's or have joined insomniacs anonymous. Thankfully the game was only given as a test try and i'm now thankfull that I've got the PS3 version, now all I have to do is wait for Playstation 3!!
