Amazon.co.uk Review New system, new Star Wars adventure. LucasArts' no-brainer approach to the PlayStation 2 looks great and plays even better. Star Wars Starfighter is modelled after LucasArts' long-running flight-sim series. Thankfully, the game is fully loaded with plenty of vehicles from the Star Wars universe--which should put early fears to rest that the game would only include a few Episode 1 vehicles. On the PlayStation 2, this game looks incredible. The terrain detail is breathtaking, with long distances stretching out between you and the horizon. The environments are quite varied from the looks of things, with fighting taking place both within a planet's atmosphere and in the lonely recesses of space. Since it's a console game, the controls are very simplistic, yet sport some interesting features. Players can freely switch between highlighted targets and can use a zoom lens to easily take out all droid invaders. The cinematic sequences stitched throughout the game are brought to life with sharp, real-time cut-scenes, and all of Starfighter's effects are light-years ahead of anything you've previously seen on a console. This PlayStation 2 Star Warsflight game demonstrates the best use yet of the high-profile license. Putting players in the pilot seat of a TIE fighter or an X-Wing is sure to answer the fantasies of millions-upon-millions of dedicated fans. --Todd Mowatt

Rating says it all February 7, 2005 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Very dissapointing game.Game control is lousy at best. Flyability is a big fat zero. Why people rant and rave about it is beyound me. Rent it - even then its money down the tubes. Dont do it - you have been warned
Buy it or I will shoot you June 17, 2003 Dale Winstone (Neath, south wales) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This game has an excellent storyline. It's graphics are awesome, you pilot different starfighters and play as different characters, all ships have missiles. There are hours of play and lots of action. You fly around many planets including Naboo. You fight back the trade federation, you also get to fly into their giant battleship.
Best Shoot-em-up ever January 17, 2002 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Amazing! The game sticks closely to the film, from the missions, to the ships and planets. The controls suit the gameplay, the first analogue controls the ship, and the second controls the wings (you can spin or turn to avoid rocks jutting out of cliffs.) . I don't own this myself, but my friend does and I've borrowed it 9 times in under 2 months! Only a tenner more to save, and this game will be mine! I recommend this game even if you don't like stars wars, because it'll be a classic in 5 years, guaranteed!
May the game be with you!!! July 29, 2001 The Fishmeister (Leicester, Leicestershire United Kingdom) 7 out of 11 found this review helpful
I had a choise between Zone of the Enders and Star Wars:Starfighter. So I got this game and what a choise. It's fabulous. I think the best part of the game is when you get all the bonus missions you can take control of Darth Mauls ship. With his ship it's much easier to complete over and over again!!!
star wars at it's very best yet! July 18, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a great title. It brings out all the action of the star wars films into a superb blast of excitement.Pilot different ships and defeat different enemies. This game will keep you on the edge of your seat. No dout this is the best star wars game on the PS2 yet!!!
