Amazon.co.uk Review It'll be something of a relief for the majority of people to find out that Vampire Night is not in fact a simulation of a night out at a Goth club. You can pretend it's exactly that if you like, as you blow away hordes of the style-challenged undead, but that's not really what the game's about. It's a gun game in the vein of Virtua Cop and Time Crisis. Which means you point your G-Con at the screen and shoot bad guys. And that's pretty much it. Considering it's a rare joint venture between Namco and Sega it's shocking how little imagination has gone into Vampire Night. The only new idea here is health bars for all the baddies, and, really, that's not much of an innovation. There's a cryptful of extra game modes and secrets but that's unlikely to be much of a comfort when you complete the main game within just a few hours of opening the box. Vampire Night isn't awful by any means but it is terribly derivative; Time Crisis 2 is a much better bet if you fancy a bit of gun game action. However, if you already own that game this is a good second choice. --David Jenkins

Great gun, average game June 29, 2002 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
Not a bad package, if you're thinking of buying a new light gun and don't have Vampire Night.Vampire Night is an easy game to complete and is not mentally challenging. It is, however great stress relief if you have had a hard day and want to spend about half an hour mindlessly blasting enemies. Would definately not recommend this game on its own to anyone who hasn't a light gun. The G-Con 2 is an excellent piece of hardware and, due to the introduction of a directional button, is likely to become the new standard. It is well balanced and very accurate. Two minor drawbacks are that it is bright blue and will not work with G-Con 45 compatible software released prior to 19 October 2001.
