Not impressed October 26, 2008 Nomad in Caledonia (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Perhaps in 2004 when it came out it was an impressive game. In 2008 I found it to be highly over-rated- simple plot, unimpressive choice of weapons, unsophisticated tasks (even on the hardest levels).
Oh there's a single player game? October 13, 2008 Mr. M. L. Hanford (Hereford,England) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I,actually my brother, got this the christmas it came out but couldn't get on with gamepad controls so said I could play it,I'd heard some guff about glitchy graphics and the like but more on them later,to date I still haven't finished the campaign, not because It's bad or anything,my original PS2 pad broke and the replacement third party one is poor at FPS games, thankfully I can use the grey one from the PSOne. The graphics, yes, they were simply gob-smacking when I first put the game on and the glitches are only noticeable during deathmatches on the bigger maps,I haven't really noticed them in the campaign as yet,Gamespot said the game had weapons that don't feel right and tonnes of graphical glitches,it has some glitches which are more than bearable and as for the weapons,it has to be one of the few games you can face a minigun-wielding opponenet with a pistol and come off better,a single headshot whilst they faff about reloading makes the glitches seem even less relevant. I have Halo 1 and 2 and haven't finished either of them yet,the second one mainly as the Arbiter sections are boring and in both cases, there's no multiplayer offline.
Utterly Underrated July 18, 2008 Rondo Khesmin (West Yorks, UK) I agree with other interviews about being initially put off with all the (misguided) early comparisons with Halo. When I got this game it was cheap and WHAT A BARGAIN! It's got atmosphere, an interesting story, and most of all - the gameplay rocks. The weapons feel like they could be real and despite being Sci-Fi they're absolutely spot on. Only recently with games like Half-Life 2 and CofD 4 do you really need have the to nail your target unless you're using major hardware. Tonnes of fun. An overlooked gem.
killzone April 20, 2008 Mr. C. J. Davies is awesome...ive had it for so long now, and im still playing the mutiplayer games with the bots, with my mates. we jus take it in turns on the multiplayer team deathmatch games and theyre fun and it hasnt bored me yet with over 2-3 years
Great yet flawed....a mixed bag March 12, 2008 Mr. N. C. Thompson To begin with the gritty nature of the game has you totally in awe, thrown immediately into the action, the sounds off gunshot accompanied by the gruff shouting from enemies & comrades drawing you into a game that looks like Grant Mitchell in a bad mood. And for the first few levels it is massive fun to play too. Then, halfway through you notice the flaws. Enemies should not be able to endure 50 head shots before being killed, nor should they stand still shouting as you proceed to riddle them with bullets. Your comrades will willingly walk right in front of you as you open fire. To begin with shooting endlessly is what makes the game such loud manic fun, but as the difficulty increases it becomes increasingly frustrating as the odds seemed stacked against you as you are not only outnumbered but presented with seemingly superhuman enemy. Equally frustrating is the control system which often finds you circling around desperately trying to find the exact place required to enable you to take control of say a machine gun, only to die because the game is so fussy as forcing you to stand in a precise spot before allowing you to activate such a weapon. Believe me, working your way through a level for half an hour only to die and start again because of such a flaw is incredibly frustrating. Up to halfway through the game this would have achieved a top score as one of the best FPS games around, instead it is a mixed bag, fun and frustrating in equal measures.
