Sony Baloney - No USB Cable! July 10, 2008 Bern 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Sony Dualshock 3 Wireless Controller - Black Excellent piece of kit but I am astounded that it does not come with a USB cable!?! I could just about come to terms with the PS3 not coming equipped with a HDMI cable but to sell a wireless controller without the charging lead is just plain ridiculous, you are merely informed to use the one that came with the PS3. That Sony were not able to make the Sixaxis as Dualshock compatible in the first instance is due, I would imagine, to them treating the patent holders with the same contempt as they treat their customers. Great products but a complete lack of business acumen.
Something so simple adds so much July 3, 2008 D. Cole (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Sixaxis was a good little gimmick on the original controller but the addition of the vibration feature in the DualShock 3 is a much needed one. You may think, "oh, the only difference is that the controller vibrates" which is true but it makes such a difference - the vibration is improved on the PS2's and feels a little more subtle in my opinion. Every bump and crash in a racing game can be felt, on shooting games it feels like you really are shooting etc. I thought when using the Sixaxis controller that I wouldn't miss the vibration and most of the time I didn't but buy this product and you won't look back and you will be thinking, "why didn't I buy one earlier?" Something so simple really does add so much and the only other comparison with the Sixaxis is that the DualShock 3 is slightly heavier and the battery doesn't last as long. However, I believe the added weight is a positive and rids the 'cheap' feel of the Sixaxis. Regarding the battery, it will still last you between 3 - 5 hours. Overall, a great product and a must-have for all PlayStation 3 owners - get one now - don't wait for the UK release.
Amazing Get One June 7, 2008 A. Pope (Cambridge, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Immediately after getting it out of the box you can tell the Dualshock 3 is high quality. Unlike the Sixaxis the Dualshock 3 is very sturdy and doesn't feel like it is about to fall apart. The weight is perfect noticeably heavy than the Sixaxis, which is a good thing as the Sixaxis always felt too light. God I've missed a rumble feature, the controller's rumble is slightly less than its predecessor's, however the rumble is excellent. Playing Warhawk I can tell from which direction I was being shot at just from the rumble and games such as Uncharted can't really be appreciated fully until you've played it with a rumble feature. The controller holds its charge just as well as the Sixaxis and we easily last 20 hours before needing to charge it. Although not officially released in the UK, I really suggest getting a dualshock 3 (imported ones still work with a UK PS3). Dualshock 3 really adds to the whole gaming experience, a must buy for the PS3.
MAKES PS3 THAT MUCH BETTER May 23, 2008 L. Stewart (England) Had one of these since February and seriously it is great for shooters like Resistance fall of man Devil may cry is awesome with it AND GTA OMG its interactive with shooting, driving, explosions it just adds to the game
What An Improvement May 18, 2008 Chris Rollason You don't realize how much you miss the rumble feature until you use it again. The sixaxis is a fairly useless feature and one that i never use. However games are greatly improved with the rumble feature. The controller now feels heavier and better in your hands. It is definitely work buying one of these now rather than waiting ages for sony to release them officially in the UK. When on racing games you can feel the vibrations off the rumble strips. F1 CE and GT5:P are particularly good for this. GTA IV also makes good use of the rumble feature. When there is thunder and lightning the controller vibrates. When you are smashing your car into things it rumbles. If you have a small hand gun then you get a small vibration but if you have an assault rifle you get lots of vibrations. P.S. If you want to make the controller even better i would suggest getting the GioTeck Real Triggers as well.
