buffy the vampire slayer:chaos bleeds May 14, 2005 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Well, when i realised there was going to be a second Buffy the vampire slayer game i was so excited as i had already brought the first and loved it!The game does have some good features, the color and graphics have definately improved from the first one.The game has a decent plot and the creators of the game have been very imaginative with it.The levels are quite challenging but that just made me more determined to play. Also once you complete level by level you unlock some bonus features such as interviews and extra games. Although despite all of this the game has some bad points,as any game does that you should know about. The voices of Willow and Buffy are quite funny as they are not done by Sarah or Alyson, but they tend to get annyoing. Also the fighting tehcniques are not as good or fast as the first game which i think let it down it down a little. Other than that the game is definatley worth a look at and i advise any fan to check it out!
Buffy Stakes another high vote October 31, 2004 Paul Bennett (Liverpool, England) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Buffy the vampire slayer Chaos Bleeds is based upon one of the best tv cult series ever made. Buffy Chaos Bleeds see you take control of the pint sized slayer along with her best friends well excluding Spike and Faith. The game is set towards the end of season 5. Buffys mother is dead and her sister dawn is being hunted by the indestructiable glory. Choas Bleeds the game features six playable charectersBuffy= The slayer and the central charecter in the game. Alot has happned to buffy since the last game. She went to college and couldnt fit in. Her sister dawn is not real but a concentrated ball of energy and her mum is dead and buried. Willow= Again alot has happned to willow she has become a powerfull witch and she is now a lesbian. Since her boyfriend left her she met and fell in love with Tara mclay. Xander= Not much has happned to xander except he has fell in love with a young ex demon girl name anya and he found a job in construction. Spike= The vampire who in the last game wanted buffy dead, but fate brought him to the inititave a goverment agency dealing in study of supernatural beings. They captured Spike and put a chip in his head that disabled him from hurting humans but he was able to slay demons. He became an unlikely ally to Buffy and is growing a complicated love intrest for her. Faith= When Buffy dies by the hands of the master the next slayer was Kendra, she was then killed by drusilla spikes love and then Faith came to sunnydale. She is a slayer who is in a conflict between good and evil with herself. She murded people but is trying to make amends. Sid the dummy= Sid first appeared in season one and was a demon hunter trapped in a dummy body by the first. The game lets you control all six of these charecters and it is intresting the way the game forces you to switch between them.
Close but no cigar.... July 8, 2004 Raaaandom (London, ENG) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
A lot better than the first game both graphicly and in the storyline but a few aspects are a little disapointing. The voiceovers...terrible. Well obviously the actors who actually did them, (James Marsters, Nicholas Brendon, Amber Benson and Anthony Stuart Head) are fine but whoever they hired to do Buffy, Willow and Faith must have never seen an episode of the show in their lives. Also the reward for completing the game, (voiceover outtakes) is really not worth the hassle. Multiplayer is ok except for the bunny game...do not even bother with it. Overall the single player is good. The vampires do get a bit irratating and if i hear the "witty" comebacks from the characters again...i will go insane. if you are a fan of the show, buy it. If your just looking for a good action game, buy Halo or Half-life instead.
A good game but not as good as the first. March 15, 2004 Barnaby Twyman (Staines, England) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Buffy the vampire slayer is a hit television show and was a hit game when it was released on the Xbox. Of course everyone was dying for another one.Ethan Rayne has been offered mass power by The First by helping it open a gateway to hell. As the gateway begins to open Sunnydale is terrorized by even more monsters than usual and it's your job as Buffy Summers to protect the town. Along with friends Xander, Willow, Spike and Faith you're sure to destroy The First. This game was good just not as good as the first. The surroundings, Sunnydale High Street, The Magic Box, are very realistic and it was nice to have a level going back to the high school from the first game although the school's layout was different from the one in the original game. It was also nice to have Willow's magical element added to the gameplay. Also only a few cast members lended their voices whereas in the first game Sarah Michelle Gellar was the only one who didn't speak. In this game Nicholas Brendon, Amber Benson, James Marsters, Eliza Dushku and Anthony Stewart Head are the only ones who lend their voices. Buffy's stand in is very convincing and sounds just like Sarah Michelle Gellar however Willow's stand in was terrible and sounds NOTHING like Alyson Hannigan! Buffy's stand in also fills in for Anya and you can badly tell that it's just Buffy's stand in speaking quickly! It's a shame Emma Caulfield couldn't do the game because her witty voice is unforgettable. Also there were not enough save points in this game like the first. So you had to complete each level because if you got to the end and decided to take a rest and turn off your Xbox you'd have to start the level right from the beginning. Also the game is set during the show's fifth season and half of the characters look completely wrong! Willow is wearing season three's clothing and season four's hairstyle, Tara is wearing ALL the wrong clothes because in the show she wears more Wicca orientated clothing, Faith's hair is not convincing as in the show she would be wearing denim and her hair would be free flowing! Giles also hasn't worn a librarian's suit since the third season so why is he wearing one when the show is set in the fifth season?! Finally Buffy would never wear what she's wearing in the game during the fifth season. A bulky leather jacket teamed with hip hugging jeans is not the season five look! You see hardcore fans like me look out for these things and maybe if the game's creators had paid attention to it other hardcore fans would've been happier. Now that the show has finished I doubt they will make another Buffy game for the Xbox which is sad because Buffy had the potential to become the new Tomb Raider. But despite these factors the game's storyline is good and the fighting is very realistic. If there was a third Buffy game though I would definitely buy it. Hopefully most of the real cast members will return to do their voices this time.
Just not as good as the original March 4, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have to say watching trailers for the second game I was very hopeful this would be a good game. It isn't. The game is very good in a way of graphics but not good at fighting at all. The 1st provided a challenge and the fighting was top notch but the second fighting was slow and there just wasn't as many moves as in the first. The frames are ignoring you cannot like the second see Buffy's point of view. And turn it a full 360 oC like the second you have to bare with a 180 oC in this one. The first game felt more real aswell. The second didn't feel like an episode. Giselle Loren who done the voice or both games sounds exactly like Buffy although in the secoind she try to mature it but didn't have the same ring to the first. The Buffy voices in the 2nd like the vampire sound like cowards in the 1st Buufy gmae you would hear "Think me as an attack dog point and say kill" in the 2nd you hear "Imagine seeing me here" without atrance of change from what they say. In all in all if you only have only enough money to buy oine of the games buy the first you'll get far more for your money.
