James Bond 007: Everything or Nothing (Xbox)

In terms of gameplay though Everything or Nothing is far less extravagant. In contrast to previous Bond games it's viewed from a third-person perspective and looks and plays not unlike a more action-packed version of Splinter Cell. There are problems with the entirely manual camera system though--particularly the lock-on for the aiming system, which is frustratingly random in choosing which bad guy you target.

The vehicle sections, which use the same graphics engine as Need for Speed Underground, are less obstreperous and offer some of the most genuinely enjoyable moments as you hurtle in pursuit of bad guys riding heavily armed cars, motorbikes and helicopters. Additionally, both on foot and when driving, the game gives you the chance to trigger "Bond moments" when you find shortcuts or dispatch bad guys in particularly imaginative ways.

Everything or Nothing is perhaps the ultimate example of style over substance in video games, but there's just enough of the latter to ensure that everyone but the most pernickety of gamers will find something to enjoy. --David Jenkins

On first playing the game the first impressions were good, there was a good cinematic feel to it but then progressing onto the further levels the novelty really does ware off, this game has nothing going for it, the graphics are ok in places but on the whole pretty poor compared to other games out there, i say this only as the character models are smooth and resemble who their are meant to be but still it doesn't remotely push the xbox to its potential, the environments are uninspiring, extremely unconvincing and just plain terrible, the AI is unchallenging and is there for cannon fodder they only present a challenge as the sheer amount of re-spawning enemies you will come across, the story gets way out of hand and far fetched, later on you get a tank... made out of platinum, with laser of plasma cannons or whatever and "nano missiles",a bit far away from the espionage, cold war and drug cartels presented in the earlier films.

Driving missions, ill admit the driving missions on the game do present a bit of variation to the experience and yes ok they are well thought out, later on you will be dodging cars on a motorway after a target here you can get a real feel of speed and suspense and its these elements that really do shine here but moments like that are to few and far between to give any real sense that the game is any good as your bound to be let down in the next level, other vehicles you will be driving will include the Austin martin vanquish each of which all have there "unique" gadgets that range from rockets to acid slick... oh yes and you can also turn invisible in your Austin martin because its also a stealth car! I really got the feeling that the game was made for young age groups and that maybe EA went round a group of American children and questionnaire them on what gadgets they would have on a "super car" etc, even when you do go invisible you could drive past and enemy vehicle just to hear them shout, over the loud speaker "WHAT WAS THAT NOISE", "WHOS THERE" and many other hilarious comments.

Stealth out of the vehicles isn't much to shout about either, its under developed and frequently frustrating, every time your seen as if by magic an alarm goes of and the people come running right up to you and start shooting you in the face, by this time you will have to restart, again and then again to realise whos been spotting you, or figure out how they have been spotting you at which point you realise they can see through tables or desks etc.

another point is how terrible the co op is, as the game boasts "11 independent missions from the single player" what it doesn't mention is how short and pathetic they really are,it doesn't take long to finish them and at the last level of the 3 chapters you will have to play it again and again through trial and error as it trys to keep you from finishing by presenting you with an excruciatingly high number of bad guys, and i mean a high number they just keep throwing them at you, of which all have rocket launchers of something stupid in an pathetic attempt to prolong the life by making you play the same thing over and over the rewards for this are multiplayer characters most of which are bewilderingly and frustratingly mostly only playable on the arena game mode no good for co op players like myself.

I could go on but I really cant be bothered , my advice: don't buy it, its not a bond game its a spoof of a bond game EXTREMELY over priced like all other EA titles and its not worth the money.

This game is excellent. Even if you are not a Bond fan go ahead and buy it. It's pure action. EA has done a very good job in all aspects. The graphics are great, the music follows the action smoothly throughout the game and the motion capture is excellent. You can even repeat the levels without getting bored, choosing another line of action. The next thing closest is actually beign Bond.
The only problematic area is the camera following of the character but that is just a little flaw to what is an excellent game.

Bond is a character who is suave, sophisticated, classy, and intelligant. However this game is clunky, flashy and requiring an iq of 12! Fans of the bond series should compare this to the poor quality ps1 bond games rather than the seminal classic goldeneye.

Compared to other xbox bond titles this is not as good as nightfire or agent under fire. I can see where the designers were going, to copy a movie story line, make it look good graphically, and expand the combat system to include more hand to hand. They have succeeded well in this. However they have made a game which is disgustingly linear, put in annoying levels where you are in an near indestructable helicopter/car/bike, and gone away from making this game difficult. To kill someone you press the left trigger which automatically targets the enemy, and then just keep pressing the right trigger to shoot, no skill required. Fighting is easy, i got jaws in one punch. For the life of me i cannot see why they should go away from the goldeneye, halo, rainbow six3 successful first person shooter format.

Compared to other third person games this is not as sophisticated as splinter cell in terms of challenges to beat levels, not as good in combat mode as Prince of Persia sands of time, and the driving levels are drastically poor compared to project gotham 2 or GTA.

If goldeneye is a vodka martini shaken not stirred, then this is a 14p can of budget cola.
