Amazon.co.uk Preview It's probably not a complete coincidence that Star Wars: Battlefront comes out on exactly the same day as the original trilogy (or at least what's left of it after the Special Editions) DVD box set. The fact that Battlefront sounds like a lot like Battlefield (as in 1942, Vietnam etc) is also probably not entirely down to chance, since this is essentially a Star Wars-ified version of EA's online classic. As such the game features first or third person shoot-'em-up gameplay over 15 different environments from both the classic trilogy and the not-so classic trilogy. Unfortunately you can't mix and match the different eras, so each of the two sets of opposing factions have to stick to their own levels. Although the game has a much stronger single player mode than its PC based inspiration, the heart of the game is still the multiplayer mode that allows for up to 16 players online playing as more than 20 different soldier types, which sadly doesn't include Ewoks or Gungans (although the former are at least in the Endor levels as non-player characters). There are more than 30 different authentic Star Wars weapons to use (although not, as far as is known, lightsabers) and 30 different vehicles to pilot, including Scout Walkers, X-wings and speeder bikes. Despite its obvious steals from the Battlefield series Star Wars: Battlefront is shaping up to be a more than worthy title on its own, with excellent graphics, plenty of variety and, most important of all, the chance to essentially "play" Star Wars, except with virtual characters instead of action figures.--David Jenkins This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

Almost perfect. July 7, 2008 Mr. M. L. Hanford (Hereford,England) You probably know what sort of game this is by now,I just wanted to mention something, firstly,I like the graphics, they feel solid and the lighting and weather effects are well done, yes it get's repetitive but that's the whole nature of the game. It's like complaining that all you do in Forza is drive cars!!,Also yes it is easy, the AI of your side is mostly excellent and I can't recall any moments of exceptional stupidity, unlike Rising Sun where a comrade threw a grenade in a tunnel whilst I was next to some 'exploding' barrels-GENIUS!! No I only have two small gripes, and bear with me I haven't played the second one yet,I find the Droidekka(Destroyer Droids) a bit unbalanced,a pain to kill and yet seemingly fragile when you use them and some of the maps are too small for fast vehicles,An X Wing on the Dune Sea map quickly goes off the edge. Other than that...perfect.
What Can I say...Unbelievable July 12, 2006 Ken Dixon (Waterford, Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Having owned a PC for the last 15 years, and taking on such old star wars classics such as Tie Fighter and moving on up to playing Star Wars games on other platforms, to buy a Star Wars game for my Xbox was a priority, and after having bought a few i was disappointed...Until BattleFront caught my eye. This game is truly unreal, allowing you to be an imperial , rebel or droid soldier right out there on the front lines battaling through some of the most famous planets and battles in Star Wars history. This game also looks amazing..with so much detail and most of all, Freedom. You can literally go where you want on the battlefield, enter any vehicle you see out there...from the mighty AT-AT to a simple landspeeder and use it to your advantage. As for multiplayer, you have both XBOX Live and Splitscreen action (which unlike other games works fantastic) in both Co-Op and Head To Head. Overall, This game is a must for all...even if you dont like star wars but just like military, squad based games. This game is definetly Good To Go.
Great fun, not enough scope April 26, 2006 The Jolly Juggler (Manchester, England) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This game places you square in the field of mass battle, as one of four possible alliances - rebels, republic, droid army or imperial army. In each of these alliances you have a number of troop types to choose from, each of which have several weapons at their disposal. All the troops share common attributes, being a front-lines infantry man with blaster to shoot the hell out of what comes your way; a rocket-armed dude that can take on the vehicles of your enemy, sniper or demolitions bloke. You are also able to control vehicles in many of the missions, which adds dimension and interest to the game. The gameplay is pretty good and controls are easy enough to grasp, making for quality playability. Graphics are smooth and detailed enough to add credibility to each scenario, and the general sound and atmosphere is engaging and fun. The only downside to the game is that it does not offer enough maps and variety once all the missions have been attempted. You are left wanting more challenges and despite being able to choose your alliance, and to select various bonuses to improve your team's performance, the need for more maps and variety of challenges detracts from how long this game could potentially remain in your play list. Action 9/10 Graphics 9/10 Gameplay 9/10 Atmosphere 8/10 Lastability 6/10
star wars epic . January 16, 2006 skills! (england, aldermaston) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Great truly good, This is what incouraged me to start buying more star wars xbox games. normally i find that star wars games are rubbish, like rouge squadron which others may find good but i found it incredibly aggitating. But this seemed to alter my opinion for the better. This game has a lot of levels pretty decent graphics and other features. Battlefront 2 was obviously a bit better but i must admit i enjoy The first version sometimes more. for example playing with freinds is more fun. with a variety of levels, weopens, characters and vehicles it's sure to leave you playing for a long range of time. Bespan skies will keep you hooked with lot's of different air-bourne vehicles Which is good. Also 4 different races, (storm troopers, Cis, rebel alliance and clones) Keeps you pretty content. OoOo ***** OoOo good stuff
