A really fun game- brilliant for those with a secret destructive side! January 20, 2008 R. Martin This is NOT just another racing game. You might look at it and think, 'just mindless destruction for no reason.' You would be wrong- it's SKILLFUL mindless destruction. It does take a bit of getting used to- don't get discouraged if at first you are just crashing every five seconds. You will ease in to the game and become good(hopefully). There is great variety- there's crash mode, where you drive into a busy junction and cause as much damage as possible- then there's race mode, which is a race, with a difference. As well as heavy traffic that you have to weave through in your supercar, there's also chances to earn boost, which gives you extra speed. There are many ways to earn it, like driving on the wrong side if the road, ramming into your opponents, etc. But the most effective way (and the most fun) is to make the other cars crash, which earns you a large chunk of boost. However, if you crash, you lose a chunk. So, all in all, if you want a fun driving game with a difference, get Burnout 3 takedown.
Fun fun - best Xbox game I've got November 27, 2007 G. WILLIAMS (UK) I've played loads of Xbox games and sat in front of the thing for far to many hours, but this game is simply the best I've played. I wish I'd had it sooner because it is possibly the best spectator sport too! I challenge anyone to really not love this game (except perhaps if you have lost a loved one in a car accident!)
The best racing game for the XBOX, surely! February 26, 2007 G. Warner (Chandlers Ford, England) I would not have chosen this as my first choice of game but it came free with my xbox, this was the first game I tried I still remains one of my favourites. It isn't just for boys, my sisters love it, by far there best xbox game and we often sit in the lounge racing each other in a rotary system! The only down side is that the multiplayer is only two players max which is a bit fustrating. Now I just need to decide whether I should get a wheel for it!
fast driving , crash diving , road kicking fun!! November 8, 2006 Ms. Katie L. Dodd (uk) this game i have got to say the most fun game i have ever played, i am not really into car games and find a lot of them really difficult to get the grasp of and difficult to control, with burnout it is very easy to learn how to control the car and race as fast as you can without crashing.... well that is until you are meant to crash.... the crashing is the fun part of this game and brings the whole meaning to the word fun:D i would play on this game 24 / 7 if i could.... i enjoy the crash junctions and the multiplayer games where you have to take down as many cars as you can in the time limit or until you get knocked to pieces by the amount of cars that smash into your rear end... you get fire engines , buses and trucks galore when you go through crash junctions, the dj is a bit naff but at least you can mute him .... their is only really 2 of the songs on the game that are any good but luckily for us you can put your own music in... the music makes you want to go faster i noticed, but be warned use the turbo as quick as you can , ya get a knock and you lose it ... altogather a family fun game that even my 4 year old enjoys playing :D x box live enabled which means fun for all the countries , invite people into your team and let the fun begin..lots of tracks and easy to complete, unlock new cars as you go and get rewards for more points... loved it , easy to play and addictive.... still the only car game i can actually play , i own a load of them but burnout is the only one i ever use :D
Great, but I want Wacky Burnout Races now please. June 7, 2006 Bardamu Takedown isn't perfect. It's far too White American, the music is perhaps the worst game music I've ever had the misfortune to hear (and so much of it too!) It's no Wipeout in the music stakes. thankfully you can burn your own soundtrack to the Xbox, a feature too few games take advantage of. The DJ will have you spitting swearwords in a matter of a few crash junctions, thankfully he can be tuned out. If you could remove a couple akward crash junctions and changed more races into Road Rage events, it would have been a perfect 5/5 game. Regardless of the flaws this is a magnificent game that can be completed fairly quickly, but sucks you back to get a gold in every damn event. The crash junction half of the game is automatically addictive, I played it to death before going on to the main part of the game. I would have been happy with the game up to this point, crash junctions is short sharp jolts of game mayhem, perfect it and everything seems choreographed to be destroyed in a blaze of glory. If you think too much about context (you are a suicide driver aiming to destroy all cars, finally blowing yourself up in a 'crashbreaker' move) it's a really sick game. In truth it's a game in love with it's physics. It's like those FPS games or Hitmen games, in reality awful, in game it's ragdoll fun and how things react in cartoon displays of physics. It's the same in burnout, the ragdolls replaced by shiny metal coffins on wheels. When you finish the crash junctions, the races feel like a whole new game, coming as a shock initially. But you soon get into the rhythm of it, more the trance of it, every crash coming as a blow to the teeth. For the most part, the game is perfectly timed, hazards and cars being in just the right spots. Clever. Then some things are downright unfair, such as the way other cars catch up so quickly; you could take out a car three times and it can still win, you get taken out three times and you'll be half a minute behind for the rest of the race. Those crashes that are completely without warrant (although admittedly the game does give you the benefit of the doubt and will award you takedowns that had nothing to do with you). The moments the driver AI has a brain-fart, making them drive in circles . And I HATE time trials, it always feels like a chore, never fun. I thought it was game developers that love deadlines, not players! So there are flaws, made more obvious by the majority of the game being so perfect. If the game wasn't so good, you'd barely notice the flaws, but they are frustrating when you expect so much, all the time. Flaws aside, this is a must buy game, even if you hate racing games. This is Wipeout for the 128bit console, hopefully it can make the transition to the next generation, unlike Wipeout. A real classic franchise that grows and changes with each incarnation. I hope it never has it's "Fusion" or "Raider" moment and befoul it's reputation. And don't worry, you don't have to get Gold in every race, it's really not worth it, who needs all those dull postcard trophies and a formula one car too fast to control? I want to see Fire Engine races next time. Forget Revenge, I want Wacky Races Burnout!
