3 out of 5 stars Great fun   November 6, 2005

I bought this game a week ago and I haven't stopped playing it. As you can guess from the title you play through all 3 new star wars films but with a difference. Everything is made of lego. The graphics add to the effects which made it a beautiful game to play.
This game isn't without fault, however. The annoying camera angles make things very difficult, especially when it come to jumping onto platforms. Also, the A.I isn't always brilliant and you end up hitting other characters in frustration.
Overall a worthy game to have star wars in its name and the force is definatly with this one

4 out of 5 stars Good old-fashioned Star Wars fun.   August 18, 2005

THE STORY:
Play through the events of 'The Phantom Menace'(including Podracing and the duel with Darth Maul), 'Attack Of The Clones' (including a battle with Jango Fett and the manic fight in the arena) and 'Revenge Of The Sith' (including the Battle of Coruscant and the titanic clash between Obi-Wan and Anakin), but versions of them where the world is made of Lego.

WHAT'S GOOD:
This game has no pretensions of being a gritty FPS (like 'Republic Commando') or of delivering 'the ultimate Jedi experience' (like the Episode III game), choosing instead to take the franchise and have some fun with it. Between levels there are little cutscenes showing scenes from the films but with a more comical twist (I particularly ejoyed the double-popping noise when Padme gives birth to Luke and Leia). The levels are inventively designed, with certain areas only accessible with particular characters (who may not be available in Story Mode - allowing for considerable replay value in Free Mode), be it using the Force, using grapple guns, climbing through vents or using droid interfaces. As you progress through the game there are various things which you can collect that lead to you obtaining parts for Lego Star Wars vehicles. You also aquire additional playable characters as you progress (some you get automatically, some you have to buy) meaning you can try out some interesting combinations of characters and scenarios (why not have Darth Vader and Darth Maul take on General Grievous?). The two player arcade-style drop-in drop-out feature is also a lot of fun allowing you and a friend to combine your skills and favourite characters. Basically, one of the most purely amusing Star Wars games available.

WHAT'S BAD:
Since it is primarily aimed at kids, the game won't be anything like a challenge to an experienced gamer - I've had it a few days and already have all the characters and levels unlocked. The other problem I had is that my copy crashes fairly regularly, particularly at Dexter's Diner when there's a lot of characters on screen, which can get really irritating. It might just be my copy or my Xbox, but be warned.

5 out of 5 stars Use The Force!   August 5, 2005

This is probably the best game ever!

You'll love it if your a star wars fan as it follows the story of episodes 1-3. As you progress through the levels you build up the characters you can play as, so instead of being stuck with one you can switch between any character from the films.

The game play is relatively easy so experienced gamers may progress quickly but there are still lots of bits to do to fully complete the whole thing so it should keep you occupied for long enough.
You can skip between episode levels if you get stuck on any part which is a useful feature, and by plugging in an extra controller two people can play as different characters.

But it's the little touches which really make this game stand out. The lego element means all people and objects are made of lego and split into the smaller bricks when you destroy them. There are also lots of pointless but funny extra bits to buy (moustaches is my favourite) which help to put this game above similar alternatives.

I've played other star wars games and this is by far the best simply because it's so much fun. Star wars fans may also appreciate being able to kill Jar Jar Binks (without ruining your game - sooo satisfying!)

I just hope they bring out a sequel for episodes 4-6.

Lego star wars is a great game with over 30 playable characters such as general grevious, yoda and count dooku.Amazingly funny and great fun to play.Lego star wars is for both adult and kids and would make any star wars fan smile. The only flaw is the games too short and quite easy however you could never get tired of this game.with the free play selection avalable to every level once completed lets you go any of the characters you have unlocked. There are also great extras to like brushes for instead of lightsaber or big blaster pistols

Final verdict great game and very amusing
