5 out of 5 stars Amazing Game   November 1, 2007

This is without a doubt an amazing game. I previously had played Dance UK, but as this game is now a few years old I found that the songs were out of date and boring. I also found that game difficult as the dance steps were shown coming from the middle of the screen and even on the easy mode, the diagonal steps were used.

By contrast Dance Factory is so much better. Even the five songs which came with the game were better than all the ones on my old game.

The dance steps are seen coming from the bottom of the screen and you make your moves when they hit the top.

When I tried with my own music, the game exceeded all expectations. I had expected that the steps would not always be in time as I have read some unfavourable reviews but as long as the track has a good beat then that is no problem.

I foresee hours and hours of fun with this and there is no chance of the tracks going out of date as you can keep updating your CD collection and creating the steps to each new track.

Don't just think about it. Buy It!

5 out of 5 stars As Big A Game As Your CD Collection   October 4, 2007
S. Smith (UK)
The whole reason I bought this game is because unlike other dance games, it will tailor make dance routines to your own CDs. I've tried out many of my CD's (not necessarily dance ones, I've tried rock, pop and classical!) and I have to say its quite impressive. It usually finds the songs beat and rhythm and makes up some good routines. It also makes them on various difficulty levels too and you can play a whole album on it. There's even a little mini game to play while it creates it all for you. I have noticed there is a specific pattern that all songs follow but its never too predictable and it does provide a real challenge on the hard modes.

Apart from that there's nothing else to the game. 5 licensed tracks is a bit stingy but then this game is only as big and enjoyable as your CD collection so if you have loads and love dance games I really recommend it. If your CD poor - go for the DDR series.

4 out of 5 stars More versatile than other dance mat games   January 24, 2007

It is very easy to generate steps for just about any track (I've tried a variety from mainstream pop, to disco, dance and even a few rock tracks to test its potential), you just stick in your chosen CD, select create and it does the rest. It's really easy to rename the tracks too as you can use either the dance mat or the standard controller.

When you're bored of the song you can create steps for a new one and when you're bored of the steps it even has an option to create your own!!

I've found it takes about 30 seconds or so to create a track and it made a whole CD in about 10 minutes (20 tracks). You can then save the steps to your memory card so it only takes a few seconds to retrieve for next time.

On occasion the steps aren't quite on the beat (usually a split second or two behind), I found that songs with a strong bass beat work better. If you want to achieve 100% perfection on every dance, or if you're used to playing in arcades then you'll probably find this frustrating, but if you're at beginner or intermediate level (as I am) and you're bored of the limitations of other dance mat games then this is the game for you. It even got my husband playing so it can't be bad ;)

I recieved this game for Christmas and was delighted at the fact that I could use my own music for the game. The game generates it's own dance steps for each song based on the tempo and beat. I have still yet to try out every song I've entered into Dance Factory.

On the downside, I found myself quickly bored with the limited amount of levels that the game offers. I usually play in an arcade where there can be up to ten levels of difficulty while Dance Factory only has Beginner, Normal and Pro. I find myself doing brilliantly with the Normal level of any song, but can't keep up with the quick steps of the Pro level. Also, since the dances are made based on the song, there is a slight lag sometimes between the beat and the step so I find myself dancing to what I hear and not the arrows on the screen.

This game is good for beginners and those who would like to get fit off the mat. But for players who are more into the arcade version, this might not be the game for you.

4 out of 5 stars Dance the night away   September 2, 2006

If you're bored with the pre-set track lists on your dance games, then this is the game for you. It has a few tracks already programmed to get you started but the real fun comes from using your own cd's. It's fairly user friendly when it comes to generating the dance steps and naming the tracks on the cd and you can save them to your memory card so you can pick your favourites the next time you use the cd. There is even a mini-game (a kind of reverse Tetris) for you to play while the game is generating the dance routines (although it does slow the process down if you play it!) Dip into a cd in Play Mode, or work through the whole thing in order in Endurance mode.

One word of caution, the steps don't always gel with the music. I've tried it with a couple of cd's that have a mix of styles and tempos of music and the faster tracks seem to work better than the slower ones. Although this in itself can be a challenge and did make for a good workout.

Basically if you want a dancing game to try and beat every difficulty with 100% perfect every time, this might not be the game for you. If you want a game for exercise and enjoyment then you'll love it.
