Smart, quiet and very fast hard drive August 31, 2008 NK (Lancs. UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wanted a portable hard drive with reasonable capacity as I generate a lot of huge files from movie recording. Having bought a freecom hard drive many years ago that worked brilliantly (it only let me down after I clumsily dropped it down the stairs) and seeing so many positive reviews, I went for this 160GB Freecom drive. The verdict? This is a fast hard drive with 1GB files quietly copied across in about 60 to 80 seconds. The unit works without a lumbersome power cable (power comes from the PC via the USB cable) which is a major, major plus. There is a Freecom software CD supplied but you don't need it as the drive is instantly recognized by XP and Vista computers. It's also really light and compact, about the size of one's palm. It fits nicely into any jacket pocket, which means it's truly mobile. I am very happy with my choice and recommend it strongly. I just hope I never drop this one!
Freecom Mobile August 8, 2008 Mr. G. Boow (Runcorn, Cheshire.) 11 out of 13 found this review helpful
Bought this from Amazon 3 weeks ago, found it easy to use, it's neat and small but would not work on other computers except those with Vista Home Premium, I contacted Freecom by email and found them very helpful and responsive, they said the problem would be solved by powering the Freecom with a mains lead and promptly sent me one free of charge, unfortunately this did not cure the problem so I can't upload anything on to other computers that don't have Vista Home Premium so I just use it as a back up for my files.
Great for a laptop August 2, 2008 S. Angelou (London) 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
I bought this as i have a small amount of memory on my laptop and needed a boost of space fast as i was running out and slowing down. I didnt want to spend to much money and didnt need anything bigger than about 150GB. My windows XP recognised it instanty and i was trasfering music and video files within seconds. Its quiet and simple looking, so sits well on the desk next to the other USB things i have hanging about.
Excellent for its purpose June 26, 2008 P. Hedderly (Middlesbrough UK) 34 out of 34 found this review helpful
Excellent 160 Gb of extra HD memory. Transferring files to this for backing up seems to be nearly as quick as using the integral Vista HD on my laptop. It is automatically, and quickly, recognised and works happily on both XP and Vista using only the USB connection; no extra power needed. My clutch of small (1 Gb and 2Gb) USB Flash Drives have almost become redundant.
It's A Kinda Magic June 22, 2008 Granny S. (Cumbria, UK) 46 out of 46 found this review helpful
I would recommend this to any grey-haired technophobe like me. You plug it in and it works straight away; no software, no setting up. Copied the entire contents of my computer within 20 minutes. Sorted.
