not wonderful December 29, 2007 Mr. R. Vafa (london) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item is a cheap and easy to use (not having to open the pc) soundcard, but holds many problems. For me, it installed on the second try even without the cd. Yet i have found from other users that this is not always the case. It works for some, some have to try a few times, and for others it does not work. (make sure your driver is fully updated) Secondly this item got extremely overheated. It actually burnt my hand with less than 10 minutes use, which it then proceeded to no longer work becuase of the excessive heat. Also because this item is a usb flashcard, it is quite weak and will break at easily if it is bent or hit while plugged in. Overall, its what can be expected for such a low price. The sound quality isn't that bad, and if your lucky this item will install and you will have a working sound card.....until it breaks. for a little more you can get a lot better external sound cards
Good for me, but that seems to be it! October 30, 2007 V. J. Gurr (Folkestone, England) I can completely understand the previous review. I think I may be one of the lucky few to have success with this device. I have had this device for a while now, and it really comes in handy when recording vocal tracks for songs, as it seems to cut out a lot of the hiss. It also boosts sound quality output-wise, for example playing tracks through windows media player. But this only seems to happen for me. I admit, it took me a few goes at trying to install this device, then actually finding it. I have never had the same luck on another laptop. Still, I'm going to try and get another because mine is starting to fall apart, mainly because I stepped on it.
one star is far to many. September 15, 2007 y_byngalo (aberystwyth Wales UK) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Initially I thought this was the worst usb device i have ever bought, mainly becuse it came without a driver disk and did nothing along the lines of plug and play, Intended for use with skype on my laptop all i got was mute and stony silence when tested. the market place supplier insisted no driver was required, even though a driver is listed as part of the box contents, but for some reason proceeded to send me one by email anyway: which incidentally did not work. My final solution was to buy a new lap top with a working sound card however I tried it later on a brand new Pc running XP PRO and it worked fine with my external speakers. so the problem must have been with the microphone input.
