breaking July 15, 2008 Derek Ames (uk) i am now on my secound set in 2 years, why do i buy,i,m a gamer and i love the surround sound quality.trouble is they break on the swivel part and eventually out comes the sticky tape till only 1 wire is left, whish they would beef them up and they would get 10 stars.yes i play every day and i,m not some kid who gets angry and beats the crap out of stuff i,m just an old man having fun.
Not bad June 23, 2008 Mr. J. Stevens (UK) I brought these after the usb version produced a high-pitched whine when plugged into a power source. The external amplifier on these seems to have done away with that problem, however. The headphones are of good quality (above that of the usb versions, to be honest), and although heavy are comfy enough to wear. Once set up (I'd advise reading the manual, as the jacks are coloured oddly) the headphones worked fine. You can notice the 5.1 in games, although not as much as a speaker set up, although that's hardly a fair criticism as most people will buy these when speakers are not an option for whatever reason. The criticism I would level at these is they don't produce enough bass. Even with the "vib" volume control turned up to max, explosions, gun-fire and even voices and ambient sounds seems slightly washed out. Oddly it's not so noticeable on music, but can take the edge off a combat heavy game for example. To be fair, I'm comparing these against a full 5.1 speaker system, with a decent sub. Compared against my old Panasonic headphones, they're much better, with crisp sounds and better depth and clarity. Given the price, and given the lack of many other 5.1 headphones out there, I'd say these are a decent enough bet if you're in the market for them.
Amazing November 14, 2007 M. Bell (Swindon, England) When playing online games I am able to immerse myself into the game with all the great sounds at the same time have my fellow group members giving instructions over Teamspeak or Ventrillo. I use these over Skype to talk with friends and family members and again the sound is grade 1 and the others at the other end comment on how clear I am, so the microphone must be good too. With the amplification box you are able to connect speaks to it so you don't have to fiddle around swapping cables over at the back of your PC. Well worth the money.
