Does exactly what it says on the tin - connect your ipod to the 3.5 stereo in jack on your car stereo (for example) - making it a quick and easy way to play your ipod in the car - with much better sound quality than those awful FM-tuners. Only problem, the wire is thin and not very durable, sooner or later, due to normal use, the wire will start to go, and you'll end up with sound coming out of one speaker only (unless you jiggle the wire constantly to find a spot it likes) - So if you intend to buy one of these, I suggest bookmarking this page now because you'll be back within 6 months to buy another one - Don't say you weren't warned!
Temporary solution November 6, 2007 greenlight (London, England) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Like one of the other reviewers I found this product to be less than durable, having just thrown my second one in the bin. I bought one of these a few months ago and after about 3 months it started cutting out with sound in the right channel dropping. Wanting to give the benefit of the doubt to Ziplinq I decided to buy another one on the assumption that I'd just been a unlucky and sure enough I've had my second one for only a couple of months and the same thing has happened. Until they sort out the quality of their connector I'd steer well clear. It's a shame because the retractable cable mechanism works well and is tidy but as a whole the product is flawed.
excellent, then bad October 26, 2007 ffolliet 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
does what it says on the tin and very well; clean sound, never fell out, zip system worked well when necessary. basically been in car since i bought it nearly 9 months ago. connection has now failed at aux end which has NOT been wiggled wildly or stretched or forced. the plastic has come away ever so slightly from the connector and bare wire exposed. design flaw. buying another one. from someone else.
OK for a fortnight June 6, 2007 Paul Brown 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
Yes, the product does what it says on the tin. However, there is so little metal inside that plastic sheathing that it began to fail with what I presume were broken connections within the lead after a couple of weeks. It's pretty annoying as my m sic st rted t cu out ev ry ew seco s. It's now in the bin.
A Great No Fuss Solution May 27, 2007 Elvis P (North, UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This neat little retracting audio cable is the perfect accessory when interfacing your iPod with your car stereo (via LINE in/AUX in). No unsightly, dangling leads to worry about and no ear-splitting sudden volume changes when returning from iPod play back to radio. I guess the only down side to this device is that it utilises the iPod's battery recharging socket which means that listening to your tracks whilst charging your battery is now out the window. Still, from what the other reviewers are saying on this page it seems the audio output is of much better quality then opting for the conventional headphone line out, however I've yet to confirm this. Again, similar to the last reviewer, I'm giving it 4 stars as I've only had it a week and I've been let down plenty of times in the past with various audio cables and their somewhat limited life expectancy... Upon first impressions I'm lead to believe I should give the Zipling the benefit of the doubt in the longevity stakes.
