This is a great little mike for smaller cams. The sound is very good with fair blocking of off shot sounds thanks to the shotgun design. It is built with an all metal housing and tiny rubber feet which do an adequate job of sound proofing. It can also be mounted on a boom pole which gives fantastic results with an E.M.O convertor. I would say the rode video mic does have a fuller sound with crisper sensitivity but not by much, if you are concerned about portability/style then you can't go wrong with this mic over the rode. Much recommended!
