Too short September 28, 2008 Paul Markham 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After using this mouse for a week, I'm disappointed. It's a lot smaller than I expected - it feels a bit like one of those "mobile" mice, with no support under the palm. I find myself bending my wrist so it sits on the desk behind the mouse. This contortion is exacerbated by the height of the mouse. Indeed, my wrist started aching after a few days' use. If you've got tiny hands, this might be a good mouse for you. If not, I'd advise you to look elsewhere.
Disappointing September 13, 2008 Oliver Jones (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Another RSI sufferer hoping for relief... Not found in this product. Works fine, build quality good, and software all OK, but this is not a particularly comfortable mouse. My hands are probably fractionally smaller than the average man's (i.e. bigger than most women's) but I cannot use this with my hand resting as intended: I have to lever my hand round in order for my forefinger to reach the left-click (i.e. most frequently used) button. I'm afraid I would not recommend this product for this reason.
Great mouse - but not if your left handed! May 29, 2008 tropicaltrev (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This mouse does all it says but please be aware that it is designed with all its sleek, comfort, etc etc for right handed users . If you use your left hand this is not suitable . When looking at the microsoft blurb I notice that some "mice" are said to be suitable for left and right handers , trouble is that the right handed mice ( like this one ) dont warn us left handers .
excellent January 26, 2008 Colin (Azerbaijan) unusual to use at first, but has definitely helped my RSI. I use this mouse together with a Wireless Desktop 8000 - i find it much better to use than the supplied mouse (from an ergonomic/RSI perspective) for office applications - i do not do gaming. At first i found that it took a bit of getting used to - in particular as i clicked the buttons I was tending to move the mouse slightly, but after a week or so it felt normal and i had full control, and my RSI-discomfort decreased. I was disappointed to have another wireless controller separate to the keyboard receiver, but it is something to live with. It is quite sensitive to position especially the mouse and receiver must be at same horizontal level - but since i bought this mouse to help with RSI-type discomfort, it is a small price to pay. Battery life seems excellent, I have not yet had to replace the batteries after 2 months of daily use.
Different, but very good January 19, 2008 Dan (Oxfordshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've used a natural keyboard for years - not really thinking about the mouse much other than going for a wireless one - however I started to get elbow/wrist issues with the mouse and noticed MS had released this one. Worth a try I thought - though I wasn't expecting it to be as big as it is - people at work refer to it as an iron and they're not far off - it does look a bit like an iron. However, ignoring the looks, it actually works very well. The change in hand position (almost like shaking someones hand, rather than a flat palm) takes some getting used to but once I did, I find 'normal' mice uncomfortable to use now. In use the mouse moves smoothly, the optics work flawlessly and the buttons work well - I still seem slightly incompatible with MS's thumb buttons, however all the others work fine. To be honest I very rarely use the 'whizzy' features like window tabbing or zooming that come with the software - especially in Vista where this is built into the OS, however customising the other buttons is very useful for certain applications. Finish wise, after having had this for a few months I've noticed that it (like most plastic IT equipment) has started going slightly shiny and worse, the 'soft' plastic on which the thumb rests has started to change colour - not sure why as I do wash! Overall, from the ergonomic point of view, a great product highly recommended - slight reservations about how well it's going to age though.
