As a previously satisfied user of Saitek products I was very disappointed with this wireless keyboard/mouse set. The first thing that strikes one when the box is opened is the poor instructions, which say the sender unit will auto install in Windows XP. There is no driver or software provided, not even a mention in the instructions that you can download the software from Saitek's web site. There is no explanation for the function or purpose of the 6 LED's on the sender unit, only 3 of which are labelled.
The second thing that strikes one is the cheap and nasty rechargeable batteries for the mouse and keyboard, which you recharge by putting the inside the wireless sender unit. The instructions helpfully tell you that you won't be able to use either the mouse or the keyboard while you're recharging!
The USB cable is a decent length, so one could put the sender unit off the desktop if only the range was adequate.
Having installed the batteries and the connected the USB sender unit to my PC, I attempted to get the mouse and keyboard to connect to the sender unit. This took me over an hour! Saitek claim a wireless range of 3M for this product, but (with fully charged batteries) I found the range was more like 30cm - it almost needs line of sight to connect and neither the keyboard or the mouse will work if the sender unit is not at the same level - move it 20cm above or below and it doesn't work.
I'll be sending this wireless desktop set back to Amazon for a refund and will buy a Logitech or Microsoft set instead.
