Great Mouse - best MS i have owned so far. May 9, 2008 Mr. I. M. Anderson (UK) First off, some of the other reviews are rather old, i suspect the version i have now (manufactured August 2007) is a much newer revision and might explain why the performance is superior to the earlier models. I got this as part of an MS laser Desktop 6000 series kit. I have had no problems with it at all. The scrolling of the mouse is so much better than the clicking mousewheels of the past. The sidescroll is a great idea, tilt the wheel to the right and even the widest webpage becomes easily navigable. I have had no problems with the quality of the signal on the mouse and the batteries are now 5 months in of full working use 5 days a week. Without so much as a whimper. The ergonomic design is comfortable for someone with larger hands as well as smaller hands. I actually have the same kit at home and work and have no intention of changing either. I would reccomend the matching keyboard too if in the market for one. It takes a day or two to get used to the slighty curved keypad, but its great for full on typing when used to it. I managed to switch between normal keyboards and my own without issues, so you can forget about that "problem". Top notch equipment from MS as per usual! (If only the OSs were as good!!)
Very poor March 28, 2008 Roger B. (Sheffield, UK) I bought one of these as part of a Wireless Desktop set. It started malfunctioning less than a month after purchase.
Would be a good mouse - but one major and crucial fault March 1, 2008 G. Turnbull (UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall, it's nto a bad mouse, fits nicely into the hand and works well. Thebattery has lasted 8 months and still going strong. However, there is one major fault that effects this mouse - the scroll wheel. I remember when I went to buy it, seom people mentioned this and I put their comments down to them being pedantic. Firstly, the wheel has no form of click or feedback like all other wheels I have used when scrolling. This makes trying to navigate precisely on a webpage difficult. Secondly and majorly, the scroll has a mind of it's own. It will often scroll several pages when you want to move a few lines. I've tried adjusting settings like sensitivity and accelration rate to no avail. In summary, when browsing pages with this mouse you have to end up using the scroll buttons on your keyboard. For this reason I give the mouse 2 instead of 4 stars. Buy with caution!
Excellent design December 1, 2007 H. Nye (UK) Simply the most comfortable mouse I've ever used - particularly good for larger hands, or for those with joint problems (I have had problems with RSI and wrist / finger pain with other mice, but not this one)
Not as good as cheaper MS Wireless Mice September 18, 2006 A. Cordwell (Berkshire, UK) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
If you are considering this mouse be aware of the following: The shape is much more scuplted than the MS Mouse desktop wireless 5000 (which I also own). There is a deep thumb groove on the left, which makes the mouse confortable if right handed, but much less so if left handed. With it plugged in, my late model G4 Mac Mini refused to go into sleep mode. This was running the latest v6 MS Intellimouse drivers. Poor show Microsoft! Side button placement are slightly more forward than I was confortable with, particularly the smaller first button. In real use, this didn't perform any differently than the considerably cheaper 5000. Looks and feels more plasticy than MS 5000. The wheel friction was very different on two different 6000 mice I tried.
