Though it is only a mouse mat, comfort when using a PC is vital if you're doing a lot of it. The gel support is very very hard, the working area of the mat is quite small, and the support often pops out of the surround meant to contain it.
All of these contribute to pressure on the wrist and generally I found increased discomfort from using this versus other softer gel mouse mats.

... and actually a better than average one. The patterning on the optical surface results in very crisp control when using an optical mouse and the gell wrist support is pleasantly gell-ish.
My two gripes were (1) the gell wrist support came adrift from its location on the mousemat and I had to stick it back in place with double sided carpet fixing tape and (2) the optical surface seems to be BEGINNING to come adrift from the base on which it's stuck too (just round the edges). Mind you, I've had the mat for well over a year and used it a lot.
If it weren't for those two gripes it would have got a four star rating
