Good apart from one major flaw October 19, 2005 75 out of 75 found this review helpful
This should be a five star device - it fits nicely in your hand, has well laid-out controls, is easy to get working and does exactly what it says on the box - BUT it does have one major flaw. When you use the device in presentation mode the two buttons function as page up and page down (as opposed to left and right mouse button). If you happen to knock the track ball at the same time as pressing page up or page down then the device sends endless page up or page down keystrokes to your PC. So if, for example, you're in a Powerpoint presentation it flies through all the slides until the presentation ends and then scrolls through all the slides in design mode at which point the application cannot respond to any more page down or page up keystrokes. I reported this problem to Targus who replied "While pressing the page down button If you move the trackball, as part of the design, it will constantly scroll. This is a feature of the product. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do to stop this." Think carefully before buying this product - believe me it's very easy to knock the trackball when pressing page down or page up and the result hardly leaves your presentation looking professional. One other minor quibble, the laser pointer is not very sharp, the dot is relatively large and fuzzy at any distance.
