4 out of 5 stars Good budget keyboard combo   April 29, 2008
A. Dean (Durham, UK)
My only gripes with this keyboard are
* The Logitech software is very intrusive and is forever checking for updates.
* There are no lights for caps lock or number lock, just an on-screen prompt when you switch them on
* The mouse isnt that accurate for some applications, i have upgraded to one of the MX Laser mice

Apart from that, the programmable keys are invaluable and the response time are both excellent compared to similar priced products from Microsoft or Belkin I have used in the past.

4 out of 5 stars good but not so stable   April 12, 2008

it's good for the price. but some times, it's not so stable, it likes to jump across the screen. not a major issue.

5 out of 5 stars Working well ... 1 month in   April 9, 2008

Wanted this to be able to work and surf from the sofa (lazy) and it does the job.

Good:
* range - I can type from a different room with this (pointless but only a test!)
* compatibility - works in usb or ps2 mode - works in both XP and Ubuntu (apart from extra software-programmable keys)
* Plug and Play - you can ignore setup CD unless you want programmable keys or OSD options
* Batteries - duracell supplied and still showing good (after 1 month)

Minor Gripes:
* slight variation layout of Insert Delete End - but it is logical
* still getting used to wheel-tilt gestures - good for forward/back but middle-click (tabbed browsing) is more tricky

1 out of 5 stars Not impressed at all!   March 5, 2008

I was used to the Dell-branded Logitech keyboards and mice that came with my last few Dell PCs and others I've used, so was expecting more of the same, if not better, with this "upgrade" from the basic stuff. Alas, it wasn't to be!
The mouse has awful accuracy and sometimes has to be moved around just to get it to move anywhere. Using something like Photoshop or using it for games is out of the question. It's being used on exactly the same surface as my previous mouse, by the way, which I never had a single problem with.
As for the keyboard, it's a plasticky affair with rattly keys, a couple of which (Num Lock and Insert) can be activated by literally touching them ever so lightly. Very annoying when you're trying to do spreadsheet work and the vibrations from using the numeric pad cause them to toggle on and off at will.
In summary, it could be that I've got a duff keyboard, but that doesn't make up for the poor performance of the mouse or the suspect build quality of the set as a whole. I can honestly say it's the worst keyboard and mouse I've used, and I've used a few!
And why is it that Logitech insist on rearranging the Home/End/Delete/PgUp/PgDn keys? It was the same on my last Logitech keyboard, but this one's different again!
Not recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Very Bad Range   March 3, 2008

I tried this keyboard for a couple of days and finally gave up, it's on its way back to Amazon now. The only reason you would buy a wireless keyboard and a mouse is to use them when you're AWAY from the PC, and this unit performs miserably. The range is so low, that if you're more than 2-3 feet away from the receiver the problems start. Keyboard misses keystrokes, repeats keystrokes, mouse starts jumping around, you click the left mouse button (or right) and it starts dragging and so on... I'm giving this unit 2 stars only because of its design, it's really slim and beautiful, but fails miserably when you try to use it as a true wireless keyboard.
