All very true November 19, 2007 D. Townend (Yorkshire, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought it doubting that the case could possibly break, and that the other reviewers must have stood on it or something. However, it is absolutely true, the case will break at the connector end, and then due to the lack of support to the PCB, the USB connector will become loose, rendering the drive useless. In addition, the lid will initially be so tight that it is impossible to remove, quickly fading to falling off with gravity. All in all, this is the fastest drive I have owned, but is let down by the poor casing. Don't buy if you intend to carry it with you regularly, but otherwise, go for it!
Good Software, Poor Build Quality October 11, 2007 JC (Kent, UK) The secure software is excellent, you can create password protected encrypted folders - keeping all your files safe and secure incase you lose it, or if it falls into the wrong hands! The only let down? The build quality is questionable for a premium product made from steel. After six weeks the plastic on the lid broke off. You can either buy more lids from Lexar (ridiculous!), from the USA! Or send your whole drive off to Lexar, again in the USA!
Good technology, pity about the casing October 12, 2006 Zacthehat (Brisle, UK) 35 out of 36 found this review helpful
The speed of the USB key is excellent as I'm regularly moving around imagery that is about 400 or so meg. The drive has worked faultlessly for a year now. My only problem is that I'm sat writing this with a usb drive (that wasn't cheap) in my pc that is in a very poor state. The plastic that the lid attaches to, broke when in my pocket and on inspection I wasn't surprised due to it being quite delicate. I glued the bits that broke off back on. I was dismayed to find, a few weeks later, that now the plastic had broken in such a way that the steel case on one side is loose! To conclude: This is a good product but don't think because it has steel casing it's going to be tough! I want to be able to chuck my USB stick in my pocket and forget about it, not wrap it in cotton wool. Z
