5 out of 5 stars Fantastic little drive   June 19, 2008

Does everything i need it to do.
Runs portable apps no problem!

Comes in a highly feminine carry case, but seems up to the job of protecting it. Case can be clipped onto belt or attached to car keys, etc. Build quality is good and mine has taken a couple of beatings and still operates fine.

If youre lucky enough to be able to afford multiple pen drives for music, video, documents, etc. It comes with stickers to identify each drive.

Is noticeably slower than previous pen drives but not enough to be irritating.

Good Job Sony!

2 out of 5 stars fundamental design flaw with MacBook 13"   March 20, 2008

The drive is absolutely fine, well-priced, compact and very speedy if you bypass the proprietary Sony compression software, yet the real design drawback is in the fact that the USB contacts are positioned really low & flat between the plastic dividers. If the contacts of your USB port stick out well enough, you are in a luck, otherwise you will have to use an extra USB adapter/hub to just get it working. Sony mention it in their manual, saying "If it does not work, use an external USB hub." MacBook 13" owners beware: it will not work as it is!

2 out of 5 stars Unreliable...   January 30, 2008

It's pretty good in many ways, like it's small enough to fit in your wallet, and it's plug 'n' play for example. But after owning it for about a month I've already lost all the memory and needed to do a reformat. So as a back up medium for your important files incase your harddrive fails, I wouldn't recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Compact, but slow   October 23, 2007

My speed tests show, for a 100MB file:
Sustained write speed: 1.1MB/s
Sustained read speed: 5.9MB/s

Build quality is good, it feels solid and unlikely to bend or crack while in a wallet. It also has a nice LED that blinks during activity (I use it to see when Windows has finished writing to the device). The LED is absolutely tiny and not particularly bright; which is a good thing. Anyone who has used a devidce that has a blinking Superbright LED, especially a blue one, will know they are very distracting, this one is certainly not.

It also came with a little a set of stickers:
* 5 pastel colours squares, presumably for writing on
* 5 patterned squares
* 4 circular icons: Musical note, Orange sun-icon, a yellow star on a blue background an a pink heart icon on a red background
* 5 pastel colours squares with icons of: A PC, a camera, a document (pen over paper), a musical note and a folder

And it came with a carrying case / keychain clip (made entirely from soft stretchy plastic, of the same colour as my card (purple) as well as a clip which I allows you to attach the carrying case to things (such as a paper document or your shirt / belt).

The compression software appears to work hassle free (no installation I noticed), but it's not something I care about or use so I can't comment further.

All in all, I'm very pleased with it.

2 out of 5 stars Small and cool, but horribly slow   October 12, 2007

This is a nice little USB stick, it looks cool and is really small. Unfortunately it is also ridiculously slow, which limits its usefulness greatly. I would counsel against purchasing this product.
