Not perfect, but it worked. October 31, 2008 Mr. A. M. HOGG (London, UK) When used on Windows XP, and *not* going via any hubs or switches (direct connect only) it worked fine. Was not so happy on Vista but that may or may not be the cable's fault! Expensive at this time for what it is. Fully -1 star for that...
Good Cheap Worker January 30, 2006 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I brought cable based on the earlier reviews and am delighted with its use. The cable is long enough to reach from the printer to my laptop, I had no issues, WinXp recognised an external USB device, I did not need any drivers, you have to configure and tell WinXP to use a USB port for the printer and what printer it is and you're done in a matter of minutes. I have had no errors since and I print large documents as a home worker and since its USB I can disconnect and plug into my Wifes PC. The cable supports all operating systems, is bidirectional, has USB on one end and centronics-36 parallel port connectort on the other and requires no external power.

Works well at enabling you to use your old printer September 13, 2005 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I'd recommend this as a way of using your old parrarell printer with your laptop if it only has a usb port. I managed to get it working but there were a few slight niggles. Firstly I had to download the driver software as the driver floppy disk was unformatted! (not a good start). Secondly, once the driver for the printer port emulator was installed, windows XP had trouble installing my printer although it had recognised it, so I had to manually choose it from a list and then manually select the USB emulator port. Additionally the first time I turn on the printer and send a document the printer crashes, but is fine after it has been turned off/on. After this, the printer works fine. Shop arround if there is a simelar device with better reviews, otherwise this will work.
A useful cable for compatibility with older printers May 4, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I've used this cable to connect my laptop to an HP Laserjet 6L and it works absolutely transparently. This is with either Windows XP or my preferred choice of Linux (I'm running Fedora Core). The setup with both operating systems is very straightforward and things work as expected with each configuration taking just a few minutes.A very useful cable for backward compatibility!
