2 out of 5 stars Expensive, but quality does not match   February 11, 2006

As with most sony products, you pay double for the name.

This set up has a total of 140 W RMS, 12 per channel and a 80w sub.

ok, the sub is a nice 80w, but 12w satellites are nothing to write home about. you know those 10 quid 2.0 speaker sets you can buy in pc world? they are 8W RMS each. so for a 150 quid system, expect a lot more than 12W

Boasting a Sound to Noise (SNR) ratio of 74 (this indicates the quality of the sound) (106 is studio quality sound)
74 really isnt great for the money. there are 5.1 systems that cost around this price that will give you 70W rms EACH speaker, a 210W RMS Sub, and a SNR ratio of 99 (Creative Gigaworks S700) which is a much better choice.

5 out of 5 stars HOME CINEMA AT ITS BEST!!   May 17, 2005

This is definitely the ultimate in PC speaker systems with satellites offering 12 watts each and a high quality subwoofer offering 80 watts. The sound by no means is quiet, as my neighbours will be only too happy to testify. I must admit I was dissapointed at first and thought it was crap but maybe I was expecting too much from it. Even though the distortion rate is at 10%, it is better than any other system I had under 200. The sound reproduced by the speakers is flawless and is faithful to the original. It offers punchy, transparent sound that is easy on the ear and is great with music, games and DVDs alike. If i were you, I would stop reading this review and buy it. You will not regret it as you can't go wrong with speakers from a world-class manufacturer.Buy it now.
