Tremendous value April 11, 2008 pjic Hesitated before buying but absolutely no reservations since doing so. Really great quality sound upgrade for any laptop. Straight plug and play with Vista...neat carry case.
Easy setup, great sound December 31, 2007 D. Dillon (Dublin, Ireland) I received these today - plugged them into my Vista laptop, no other intervention needed; they were up an running in less than 30 seconds. The sound is crystal clear and pretty punchy. The bass is fine for me, I don't see any issues there. I'm using them mostly for gaming plus video conferencing. They are a little bit heavy to be truly portable, but this is not an issue for me since they will be permanently connected to a docking station. In relation to other comments, the volume controls work fine. Turning them up/down on the speaker unit changes the volume in the OS and vice versa. Plus changing the volume or graphic equaliser in media player is reflected immediately within the speakers. Having them USB powered is a great bonus - no need for even more power cables. Highly recommended.
Yet again Mac Laptops lack power... December 28, 2007 The Blue Half (Cambridge, UK.) I bought these to go with my MacBook pro that I had just purchased too. I have already had problems with the Powerbook not powering USB powered external hard disks, but the MacBook pro worked fine with these. I bought these in the hope that they would work and they did not. Again, this is more of grumble at Apple and a warning to any other Mac laptop owner not to buy these. If you listen to what most avid Mac fans say, the supposedly inferior PC laptops cope fine with power issues and they worked fine on my PC work laptop.
Great November 10, 2007 Cathy (West Yorkshire, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought these speakers after reading the reviews already posted. We can't add anything further in praise as it has all been said. The laptop speaker is abysmal which meant that listening to music while away was not a pleasure. Now it's a pleasure. Of course they won't match up to your hi-fi system but for plug and play they exceeded expectations. We had tried other speakers and found these to be the best by far.
Good sound small size, great with Apple's Airport too February 10, 2007 Enfant Terrible (UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Like the other reviews here, I think these speakers sound great. They will never replace a full home system, or even a computer system that has a subwoofer. However, they sound great for such a compact pair. The fact that they use USB mean that you do not have to carry around a power brick, or power apapters for different countries. I found another useful way of using these was with my Apple Airport. If in a hotel room with a broadband output, you can plug this into the Airport, and the XT1s can plug into the Airport's USB slot. I can then sit on the bed or where ever, and surf the web and listen to the XT1s without any wires!
