Excellent Sound Quality and Extra USB Ports June 27, 2008 M. A. Ramos (Florida USA) I just took these speakers out of the box, plugged the USB cable using the included USB extender into my laptop, plugged in its power supply and then turned on my laptop. It automatically set itself up and started working. I must admit that I was amazed at how rich the sounds are that come out of this speaker system. I had video of a lecture that I could not hear at full volume on my laptop. But now it is like listening to the lecture live with a good quality sound system. And I only have the volume at the 20% level. Even at full volume, which is now much to loud, there is no distortion or hiss. I am very happy to have these. The AudioHub speaker system features an adjustable one-piece, three-chamber speaker system with an integrated subwoofer. You are able to adjust the speakers position so that they clear the sides of your laptop screen. The volume control/mute button on the AudioHub is lit so you always no when it is not muted. And the mute button turns off the sound without cutting power to the integrated USB hub, which has three built-in Hi-Speed USB ports. So you use one USB port for the speakers and have a two USB port net gain.
Pleased and Surprised February 19, 2008 Mr. Hm Bennett (London) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Have bought a few portable speaker systems and have been DESPERATELY dissapointed. Not with this item. Why I like it: 1) It looks great - nice black (and then some!) finish - it looks cool, simple and 'un-fancy'. Its built for business. 2) Volume - I am a teacher and I bought this for my classroom, to play music above the din of school. Doing half-term catch up sessions today and yesterday, I had complaints from classrooms 70 feet away. That sub woofer kicks ass! 3) The sound - on well-recorded music this sounds great. On poorly recorded music it sounds, well, acceptable. Not bad for a portable item. 4) Simple - unplug it, pull the cable out and put it away - perfect. Limitations are few: 1) Portability isn't perfect and you won't be packing it away in the laptop bag for sure. 2) The USB isn't long enough; I would like to place this thing a good few feet away from my laptop and have it louder without it hurting - I can achieve that, but it would have been nice to have a few feet stuck on the standard cable. 3) USB hub functionality - I'm not happy that I'm paying for something that I will never use - I imagine 99% of purchasers will never use it either. 4) It could never be described as cheap. In conclusion, it ain't as good as the Logitech speakers on my desktop but it offers a decent sound and the ability to just disconnect and store in a way that 2.1s , 5.1s etc don't. If you want speakers that you ARE going to store, buy this item; if you're going to leave your speakers in place, there are better, cheaper options. Not perfect, but all things considered, 5 out of 5
Just About Right! January 25, 2008 Martin A Hogan (San Francisco, CA.) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have Logitech X-140 speakers for my desktop and found that these speakers actually sound a little better. The "AudioHub", as Logitech is calling it, is just the right size for carrying a concise sound system with your notebook/laptop. The left/right speakers adjust to fit any size laptop with a long power cord and integrated USB cable for your laptop. There are extra USB ports behind the speaker for convenience and an attachment for a webcam. It's all very compact, but I thought the sound was better than most systems this size. Although the sub-woofer is only 3" in diameter, there is an open port to allow air mass fluctuation for maximum bass. The two 2" tweeters are crisp and clear. The volume control is conveniently located to the side and adjusts `all' sound. Note that this is not a high powered sound machine (15 watts), but it is about perfect for a transient computer system. Once again, Logitech has designed a system that is appropriate for personal laptop use. Plus, the price is great!
