If you've really got no money, they're good August 28, 2008 L. Fairclough (England) I was actually rather impressed when I bought these nearly a year ago for my laptop at uni, especially for the 25 I paid, and especially considering I'd been used to built-in laptop sound! However, now that they are coming up to the end of their warranty I've found the wiring is tired so the speakers go every so often, the sound is more crackly and tinny, and I'm just generally getting the impression they're not built to last at all. Now I'm back from uni they're plugged into my high spec pc and high quality external soundcard...and they really struggle with it. It's like playing a PS3 on a 10 year old portable tv! If you know you're going to want a speaker system that's robust and compatible with more expensive equipment, and built for heavy use like I do...then it's really worth spending the extra 50- 100. To replace these I've gone for the Logitech Z-2300, but they haven't arrived yet :)
Creative Inspire A300 August 27, 2008 Mr. I. A. Pettican Bought 2 of these just found that my left speaker has failed after a couple of months problem looks like cheap nasty connection into the bass very bad design of the connection not happy standards have gone down will not buy again
Not bad, but not actually very good. April 15, 2008 C. Harrison (Birmingham, West Midlands United Kingdom) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
Undoubtedly fair value at the price, but not quite what I had hoped for. The small speakers have an annoying habit of falling over backwards at the least provocation. The little stand built into the base of the speaker cabinet makes them lean back slightly, but the weight of the cable (particularly on the RH speaker) makes them very unstable. They can't actually play as loudly as my existing pair of Creative speakers (which were only 10) without introducing very audible distortion. The bass unit has to be played at a very modest level, as the crossover is really at too high a frequency - and the bass is very obviously coming from just one place, whereas a real subwoofer produces sounds too deep to locate the source. In reality, the small speakers produce tinny mid & high range sounds, boosted by some extra mid-range frequencies from the bass box. True bass is completely absent (try classical or organ music if you are in doubt). But this is asking too much for less than 25. The other reviews were very complimentary, but the speakers are not worth 5 stars, but well worth what I paid for them.
Wow!!!! don't look at any others March 17, 2008 F. Dixon (Yorkshire) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
For value for money 10/10 sound quality 10/10 bass 10/10 looks 10/10 excellent - i cannot rave about these enough. cannot wait to move into a detached house to use them at their full potential everyday!
Great with an LCD TV March 1, 2008 Len Ash (Rutland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought these to use with the Sony Bravia 32" TV I have also reviewed. The sound from LCD TVs is OK, but rather lacking in depth due to the small speakers used. Simply plug the jack plug in to the headphone socket (which cuts the TV's internal speakers off) set the A300's volume control to about 1/4 and enjoy clear highs and nice lows. The good thing for me was the 2 satellites fit just nicely in the LEVV glass stand, and match it in appearance too. My speakers sit either side of the SAT box. It took me a while to adjust the bass and treble on the TV, and the sub-woofer level, to get the sound to my liking, but it was well worth it. For the price, magic.
