beware March 7, 2008 Shea (Wales) This is a brilliant printer. it prints well and the photos come out lovely, so why beware? Well if you get one of these and you can purchase extra insurance then get it but after a year or maybe less for some reason it wont work saying 'paper jammed' I have had 2 of these and both did the same thing and reading some of the reviews I have noticed some people have had the same trouble. I hope they manage to sort out the fault as the machine its self is well worth the money, I hope so anyway as I have bought another newer model bit more technical than this one,but almost the same and have had it since Christmas so I shall see if that one developes the same fault! If you have one of these I hope yours gives you many good years service and that the 'paper jammed' thing is just confined to a few of their printers.
total piece of junk December 24, 2007 Phil UK worked for two days the stopped paper feeding and printing subsequently disabling every other feature on it. packaging probably worth more than the printer. even when it worked print results were 'questionable' at best.
Master Piece of Louse Printer October 18, 2007 Diego (Glasgow, Scotland) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this machine 9 months ago and it performed well. Installing it wasn't a problem and the quality of the pictures was excellent. Two days ago, what i thought was an excellent piece of machine turned out to be a nightmare. The paper got jammed each time i wanted to print.I removed the jammed paper and tried again....the same message came 'paper jammed'. When i closely looked at the rollers which pull the paper in, i found out this machine had only one roller on one side instead of two. so if one roller wears out, how is the paper going to enter the printer? I asked a friend who bought the same item with me from an Argos shop, he experienced the same problem 2 months ago. A piece of equipment that costed me 63 and was pround of it, was taken down stairs on the concrete pavement and with all my mighty, i crushed it!!! Beware buyers when buying this junk,no wonder they have taken it out of stock and no one knows when it will come back. Are you doubting? Go to their website and check its availability, its out of stock and if its a popular stuff, why don't they know when it will be in back in stock? At the moment i don't know which printer to buy.
Quality & Value July 1, 2007 S. Ramsey 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Had this approx 3 weeks now. Found it very easy to install, have printed off the manual for the printer from the CD (there are other manuals on it for the other software) but didn't really need it because it's so easy to use. It doesn't come with the usb lead but I found that the lexmark I was replacing (horrible machine) that cable works fine with the canon. I wasn't sure I'd use the memory card facility but now I've tried it I've printed many photos this way without the PC using the index sheet which, once printed out, you just tick the boxes of the photos you want and scan it back in - easy. I've just started using sandisk extreme III SD cards with my canon camera and I was very surprised to find that this printer could cope with them. My pc card reader couldn't! I also enjoyed the pictbridge facility by attaching the camera to the printer for my photo-stitch prints again without pc intervention, to obtain some lovely results. The print quality is excellent but like every other printer is dependant on the quality of paper. Have been printing on it every day including printing out the manual to A4 per page size (approx 200 sheets), I would say I've printed about thirty percent photos and seventy percent documentation and my black cartridge is showing 'low' and my colour cartridge is just over half full which seems reasonable to me. Bought the 'high yield' cartridges to try which seem to have nearly double the ink in them PG50 black, CL51 colour but can't comment on them yet except to say I've paid less for them both on Amazon than high street stores are selling one 'low yield' one for. Have only done a couple of scans but had no problems and found it very easy to use. Cannot fault the printer in any way whatsoever and, seeing as I purchased mine from the canon outlet on ebay at a much cheaper price it was a risk worth taking. Having said that, now I'm using the machine I would happily pay out the price on Amazon without hesitation.
Excellent printer September 17, 2006 Anp Slevin 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I was mainly looking for a scanner and photo copier as I already had a colour printer but decided to go for the 3 in one option as my original printer is a few years old. I never thought of Canon as a make as most 'off the cuff' reviews you hear about are for Lexmark or HP or Epsom but having read several reviews decided to go for it. If you want value for money this is it, forget about all the technical stuff - pages per minute and DPI's - if you want a 3 in 1 printer thats easy to use, easy to set up and is compact than this is it. You get a photo print program with it which is very basic but a doddle for quick quality printing and likewise a scan program which is designed for the layman. As for the print quality its fine. I know your not going to get fantastic quality for this money but for our use its great - if I want top quality photo prints I still go to Boots. My only critism if you want to be picky is that it is a little noisy and clunky when feeding the paper through. All in all an excellent printer.
