Only as good as it's printhead October 26, 2008 D. Hawson (UK) My first iP4300 was replaced under guarantee when the printhead blocked. Unfortunately, I've lost the receipt for it's replacement and the same problem has occured -- blocked print head. A new print head costs half as much as a whole new printer. To compound the expense, it's got a complete set of Canon ink cartridges in (costing almost as much as the printer itself) I have just written to Canon to ask them for their advice and suggested that they look into the matter. Should their response be favourable (ie they give me a new printer or even a new print head) I shall amend this review and increase the star rating. David Hawson.
Don't be fooled August 26, 2008 Mark Wharton Don't be fooled by the name , I owned the previous model to this had problems with it , error message saying I had to take it back to cannon , I was lucky it was in it's warranty , got it back a few months later same problem . I went for the new model (mistake), the same thing has happened , I only use it 2 or 3 times a day for small basic A4 printing , Rubbish STAY AWAY !! I have been a fool , don't follow in my foot steps 1
I've been mugged again. July 9, 2008 Mr. J. Turner (Lancashire UK.) I've had the Prixma IP4300 for 16 months it was on its second batch of canon ink, then the dreaded cyan cartridge failure to recognize fault came up, checked the cartridge it still was quarter full but not lit, replaced with canon cartridge but still won't work. PRINTER NOW USELESS sadly I had bought a set of refills a month before could have bought a different make of printer for the same money. This is the second canon printer to fail on me why did I buy another, there's no fool like an old fool. I'll NEVER buy CANON again.
A Mistake. May 15, 2008 MarshMan (Lincolnshire England) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As a retired hardware engineer I've been buying and using printers for about twenty five years and I can honestly say that this is probably the worst printer I have ever owned. (I've owned quite a few of various makes over the years). I realise that in recent years, printers have been sold merely as a vehicle for selling ink at exorbitant prices but this time Canon is surely taking the P. The ink cartridges which were supplied lasted for no more than two dozen or so pages of A4 - No, not photos, just everyday pages from the internet so the only colour was logos and bits of graphics. Do check the price of cartridges before you buy. The other main problem is the speed or lack of it. I can't remember another printer that dithered about as much as this one - when it prints it is quite fast but sometimes You can wait two or three minutes for it to start with whirring and clanking, going through who knows what cleaning routine or perhaps just thinking and chuckling about the money Canon is making on ink. The print quality is nothing to write home about, (I made a pun there, did you notice?), ordinary black text is fine but printing graphics on ordinary paper is dire. I have tried photos on glossy paper but these were absolutely appalling BUT I was not using Canon paper so this is not a fair test. I'm going back to my laser printer, when I have psyched myself up to buy the toner!
Ink Cartridge Problems May 4, 2008 C. E. Fowler (Bideford, England) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had my Canon iP4300 for over a year now and it suddenly started giving me ink tank errors. The lights weren't on on the Cyan and Black cartridges - when I reinstalled them the lights came on but went off once cover closed. I rang Canon on 08705 143 723 and told them about the problem. They told me that this was a recognised problem, gave me a ref. number and told me to return the cartridges to the shop where I bought them and that they would be replaced. I did this and now the printer is working fine again.
