3 out of 5 stars The ear sponges come off!   October 11, 2008
Cathy (Halifax, West Yorkshire UK)
The sound is fine, but I have now lost all three sets of soft caps. They come off too easily and disappear forever into the bottom of my gym bag. Pity...Does anyone know where you can buy new ones?

3 out of 5 stars Nice - If you can get them to stay in place!   October 9, 2008
Appalled of Tunes (Scotland)
Quality-wise, this item is flawless - really good sound quality, and bass is excellent. The only problem is getting them to stay in my ears. The slightest - and I mean slightest - movement out of the ear causes the music to sound very bad indeed. Pocket transistor-radio bad. Still, there's always Superglue.

I required a pair of headphones for use mainly in the gym and running. Having read the reviews for Phillips SHS8000 I thought I'd give them a go. From the moment they arrived and I put them on I sensed disapointment due to the poor fitting. Even just walking in them I find that im constantly adjusting them. Then I tried them at the gym and running, even just lying down for sit ups they fell off, then when running well, I gave up after about 100 metres and put me ipod back in me pocket. Sound is also very tinny. Hope this has helped. you've been warned.

5 out of 5 stars Great for running   September 7, 2008

I purchased these headphones and am quite happy with them. I received them sooner than expected and for the price, "not bad". They do stay in my ears and thanks to the 3 different sizes of caps I was able to select the the correct ones to fit my ears. The bass is not brilliant, but all things considered these are a great buy.

2 out of 5 stars Not a 'Sound' buy........   September 6, 2008
Mr. M. Timberlake (West Sussex, U.K.)
After fitting the appropriate earbuds to the my new Philips SHS8000/00 and connecting to my Creative Zen I was looking forward to all round listening pleasure. What a surprise, a tinny emasculated response, plenty of treble but imperceptable base. I checked the earpiece fit because with such a small eaphone its essential, the fit was snug and very comfortable.
The design is good, the wires from behind the ear are great. Unfortunately the frequency response is just awful, base notes are there but they are so imperceptable as to ruin a piece of music. These earphones have what is termed 'turbo base', I don't know at what level the 'turbo effect' comes in but mine have gone back in the box. They are just useless. I have gone back to listening with my Creative EP510 earhook earphones, not so stylish but with a vastly improved frequency range and sound quality over the Philips -- and currently at 6.96 the Creative EP510's are an absolute bargain.
Two stars to Philips for concept and fit but what are earphones for.................
